Drew Talbot, a forward, made the full back position his own and turned into a very good full back. Since his departure through injury and illness, Town have tried numerous full backs, but not of them have really replaced him and hes been sorely missed.
There we are, you are entitled to your opinion but we move on.
Talbot was very good in a very good team. At best he was bang average thereafter. He had poor positional sense and couldn’t cross for toffee. His attributes were commitment and pace and that served him well. When the injuries took toll it took away his pace. The fact he’s a town legend seemed to make people unable to look at anything that wasn’t rosey when he came back.
At the time of his re-signing there was so much **** happening off the pitch, I said at the time, it was a signing to try and appease the fans as he was a fans favourite, to deflect attention from other matters and other people. I stand by that as my humble opinion.

A week or two later, MA confirmed he'd spoke to drew and offered him a new deal.
I recall Ashley inviting Drew to a game and them sitting together when he was still under contract at Portsmouth.

Worst thing was that Town not to have a medical test or anything similar when re signing him- now that's niaive and costly !

"Little"?
he's 5'10" (sorry don't do metric) and was better in the air than a lot of 6ft + players.
Why do folk trying to make out they know somat about the game resort to poor clichés?
Yorkshire is Yorkshire
Never the twain shall meet.

Yeah that’s one of the biggest loads of guff I’ve ever seen on this board. Drew had a big jump and was often an out ball for us from goal kicks/free kicks in our half. Perhaps Walton has confused him with Phil Picken.

Saw him play plenty of times. Getting brushed off the ball and fallling over was another one of his traits.

Your right I didn’t see him much because he was always injured.😂

This is complete rubbish.
Talbot was decent in the air, especially since he's not massively tall.
He always knew how to block an opponent in an intelligent way and used his experience to manipulate situations. You can't blame him for the injuries, he's had really bad luck and over recent years he never got the chance to have a steady run of games to hit some form again and re-gain his confidence.

No such ting as injury prone btw
It's either poor conditioning, fatigue or poor previous injury rehab and management. (The latter I think in Drew's case)

I'm pretty sure that some people are physically stronger than others - a trait that will play out in how often they are unfit for football.
