For me alarm bells rang when he was asked about getting any scouts in and his response was along the lines of, "I'm gonna do it, don't need anyone else"

Combine that with notion that you don't need a fitness coach, because "you know they're fit enough when they're throwing up in training", the prehistoric tactics, the constant changing of the starting XI, the talking up and then benching/dropping said player, the sign 'em quick then chuck 'em away, and the bizarre selection and substitutions, snd you wonder just how deaf and blind DA & AC must have been...

The insulting nature to Marc-Antoine Fortune in his post match interview after the Ebbsfleet game confirmed to me all I knew about MA.

The way he sat back after the interviewer told him his side had gone top after the Aldershot win. (second match of the season)

The fact he wrote for the Daily Mail also ground my gears.

To me he was the wrong choice but because he was a Dave Allen choice (who incidentally told all and sundry that he picked him because he could tell a shovel was a spade or whatever) then it makes me amused because DA knows f..k all about picking football managers that don't end with the surname Sheridan.

He did a great job at Brentford, Gillingam & Barnet. 2 championships is more than most ever win. He may not be a man for the long term but that doesn't mean his successes don't count.

Good point, but he was lauded as some sort of messiah when he was appointed, and many were swept up with the gusto just because (at the club lowest point in the clubs history PR-Wise) he started to address the fans like a mate, and added 'take care' to the end of his press releases. To his credit, he recognised the club was on its A55 and tried his best to re-engage the fans.

As soon as the winning streak (can 3 games be a streak??) was over, the comical press releases stopped and the connection with fans soon wained when he steered us through our longest win-less run ever.

By the time he'd tried to rebuild the spine of the team for the 3rd time in 5 months, the writing was on the wall.

Other than Barnet, I think he'll struggle to get another job at our level.

Mandeville might be worth a look. Was amongst the goals not so long back.
The greatest miscarriage of justice since my case against the producers of the Never Ending Story

Would love to see him here.

Your right about JS, although I do firmly believe his time at struggling Newport and Notts county, where he HAD to work with what he had, and not sign former players, has made JS a much better manager than he was last time he was here.

Through gritted teeth, we surely must give some credit to DA for getting Paul Cook. He’s on record as asking, during the game against Accrington, what relative budgets would be of the 2 club’s and saying “we might need to speak to them about their manager”
A new hope.

Whose record? It was Turner given the task of getting Cook. Allen just liked the look of a side that lost 4-3.

Dave has a habit,as all yorkshire men do, of telling you a lot when a little will do.

I don't doubt you've been told it but I can't see Doyle's wage demands having shrunk from Championship (reasonably) big signing to austerity-budget non-league CFC in such a short period. He just turned 31 and has a few decent league years in him yet, I'd guess. He's more likely to join if we get promoted in the next couple of seasons.
These go to eleven.

I am sceptical of it but didnt Sheridan sign him at Oldham? It would be another player he'd know if it was true.
