Get a grip , Whitmore is one of the reasons we are where we are. Hopeless defender and it's only took Grimsby 1 season to realise he's no good. We need to get out of this league and we won't if we re-sign dross like Whitmore.

Agree. Was woeful for us. Most flatfooted centre back I've ever seen.

How does the fact that Michael Jolley had Whitmore at Burnley fit in with your time frame.
God I hate this league.

Peter Vincenti apparently a player we are looking at, certainly excellent in his Rochdale days, now with Macclesfield

Used to cause us all sorted of problems for Rochdale & if i remember correctly he was always a threat in the air at the back post

It would be very interesting to hear Carson's view on whether Jack was 'backed' by the Board. Jack got off to a bad start with them by insisting that they sack Branston, summat that would not have gone down well in the Carson household.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

Oliver has been around a bit but never been that prolific. Adam Campbell I recall at Notts Co- Geordie lad, I think- seems Shez had him on loan at Carlisle so he might be a possibility.
Just checked on Wiki and Campbell is only 0.012 in (0.30 mm) tall, which might be an issue.

He was always a decent player when i saw him play for Rochdale and that was over a number of performances & not a one off performance. We did seem to play them alot (cups etc) in that period. However, that was 3 or 4 years ago.
I have never said that he would be a good signing now, i'm not sure what he is like now a few years on.
Personally, i would like to see us sign players more in the 24-27 y/o age bracket with something to prove.

But why when someone makes an assessment of a player based on their own experiences of seeing them play, does the "martin gritton theory" get raised? What other basis should people use, Championship manager?

Plenty shown the door at Bradford :-

Quote

"Bradford City have released 11 players following their relegation to League Two.

Senior players Paul Caddis, Adam Chicksen, Billy Clarke, Alex Jones, Nat Knight-Percival, Ryan McGowan, Ben Wilson and Calum Woods have all been let go.

Tom Clare and Cameron Hawkes, both 19, and Callum Gunner, 20, are also going."

Billy Clarke would certainly do a job here, as would Knight Percival (who I believe Sheridan was after in his last stint here)

The two I'd want to look at if willing to go non-league too. Sheridan clearly didn't care but there's a stigma that goes with it and not without reason.

Maybe why a contract has been offered to Weir?
