Shhh. Now Now.....

Do you fancy meeting up for a good natured pint before the next home game, have a laugh about what we say and give our honest views and listen to others?

Still, at least the moron has avoided blaming stay away fans on this occasion, to which he deserves a modicum of the most patronising credit available.

Alas, the moron's praise was short lived. He just could not help himself.

(OK, I'm done)

He's made it perfectly clear he has no interest in it. He can't work the same way face to face of course.

Of course he can't, which sort of paraphrases a post of his tonight....it says far more about him than it does others.

Caldwell signed the players. Hindsight is great. For me - any blame is that Caldwell should have been sacked in April. Nobody really complained he was still here.

Use the search feature, enter my user name and the word ‘Caldwell’ or alternatively go to the Mowbray thread, 16th Jan, two days before Caldwell was appointed and read my post. I didn’t want him appointed then, and consistently said he was a poor manager until his sacking.
I wasn’t the only one either. To say no one complained is patently untrue.

I seem to remember an early interview with Caldwell in which he said he had met Allen and it was a good meeting but that they did disagree on some footballing matters.

Is it no coincidence that now Caldwell has gone, Dave Allen appears to be showing interest in the club again, in addition to the fact he needs to because his investment is in danger of going down the pan.

I was vocal in the summer regarding Caldwell and despite the fact we'd appeared to sign some decent experienced lower league players (as opposed to the kids he'd signed in January) I remained unconvinced he was able to pick either a starting eleven or tactics capable of winning football matches.

IIRC someone started a prediction thread for the forthcoming season, and I was heavily criticised for not backing GC and being negative.

Everyone had an opinion on GC, in January I backed his appointment but by March it was obvious he really didn't have a clue on who to play and in what positions and was capable of changing games with subs or tactical changes.

We dropped like a stone, went down without so much as a whimper and that should have been enough to see him sent packing.

Nobody would have been able to stop us dropping like a stone, unless that person had been able to stop Ashley slashing costs. Whether anybody, perhaps even Danny Wilson, could have persuaded Ashley to do that would be an interesting question for the AGM.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

When he was appointed we had no way of knowing how bad it would become. He had a L1 promotion on his ćv albeit with a big budget squad. He inherited a struggling team that was weakened by some players leaving but his signings in January were chronic and his tactics were a disaster. I was of the opinion he should have been sacked in May.
He was allowed to build his own team in the summer with a budget that we are led to believe was good. At that point I felt we should give him support in case he had got it right this time. But, aided and abetted by Branston, he failed again in the recruitment and tactics departments.

I don’t think it was the fact we dropped like a stone, but the manner in which we dropped like a stone. Silly 3 at the back formation with unsuitable players and most of which would be leaving anyway.
What was the point?
The refusal to change his approach despite a series of heavy defeats, Dan Gardner as a defensive midfielder?
Only once against the posh did a side of his look even remotely capable of doing something.
If anything it was an ideal opportunity to try to shut up shop, to grind out points when not playing well, to work on playing on the counter etc. Good sides when not playing well still get points. Winning sides are capable of controlling games of managing games.
His selections and tactics were woeful, unforgivable even. A terrible appointment.

Tragically, I suspect he still believes he was doing the right thing and with a bit more time everything would have clicked.
