Having part-followed this unravelling mess behind the scenes and obviously on the pitch, surely someone in DA's position should start attending matches and give an interview. Whether or not he's liked by whoever, whenever, however, wherever, whatever, and whether or not he feels he can do as he likes on a Saturday afternoon, there are going to have to be some big decisions made over the next 6-8 months. I'm not one who wants him to 'stay away dee daah' and all that rubbish. It's about time he came back and offered an explanation to fans and what he intends to do. It's all hands to the pumps now and DA should at least make his presence felt.

Nice to think that there are some that still believe DA has good intentions for the future of the club.

In 9 months time, DA’s interest will be none existent as his 12m investment or what ever it is will be valued at about 2m.
Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.

Then it's a nice introductory cold-shower of a thought to get him interested - if he's got one ounce of acumen left.

I'd be inclined to suggest that if DA gave the club away at Christmas it would be a decision that would incur no personal loss of wealth.

For the less perceptive people, please clarify in as much detail.

Agreed, Dave Allen when all said and done will walk away from this club in the non league without it costing him a penny.
He's milked this club dry , The 5 million or so in transfer fees , interest every year, no wonder any potential investor that has showed interest haven't been able to see the full books, as he's filtering money away so it doesn't affect him personally. You know what part of me says I don't blame him , but part of me is so angry at the man who gave us so much hope yet kicked us where it hurts when we nearly got there.

This football club is about to die a very slow death

But surely the hope was just as much part of the plan - I’ve found a quick and easy way of getting some cash if I can just get the locals to get on board and turn a blind eye for a while...

Of course he did - as did DB in his time.
DA’s Chesterfield is like a Triumph TR7 (or a Lotus Esprit for those with only a Bond knowledge of sports cars) - it comes out of the factory, all shiny and new, promising both glamour and performance. Then it transpires that it’s not really up to general day-to-day running and soon all those that bought into the dream are left with a big dollop of egg on their face.
One can only hope that DA goes the same way as Triumph Motors but I suspect he’ll be plodding on like Lotus - selling a dream that’s never really been there.

When the council sold the land to the club, i’m sure I heard / read that the land couldn’t be used for anything other than football. Was that league football or just football? Because if it was league football I think we all know where this could be heading.

I believe it as to be used as a sports arena. No such thing as only for league football.

My understanding of the "covenant" idea was this - The council did not gift the land as such, but insisted that it be gifted by the developers to the football club, who agreed to use the land for the stadium only, and not for commercial development beyond that normally associated with running a football club - lounges and suchlike. If the football club owner could think of a way to entice the developers to rip up that agreement, then it is anyone's guess what could be on the site in a couple of years' time. I don't know if the developers' deal with the club is in any way protected or enforced by their deal with the council.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.
