He hadn't have it that rough went to Torquay picked up some player of e year awards, got a contract extension for a further 2 years etc, plenty of players have had it worse.

He was clever enough to work towards a career outside of football with his media work and good luck to him in that if he doesn't get fixed up playing

I'd bet Exeter could be next.
God I hate this league.

Most Torquay fans sad to see him leave.

Should get fixed up in the Conference I would imagine.

He's about to turn 30. Has he been fit and playing this season? I wonder if Torquay are just trimming their wage bill.
These go to eleven.

Yes. I think he was captain for a while. Also chipped in with a fair few goals.

39 appearances this season according to Soccerbase....chipped in with 6 goals, including a run of 5 in 8 games at one point, and managed a couple of red cards whilst he was at it!

Par for the course with a fit Downes- always popped up with a few goals and a couple of clangers here and there. Top bloke though, and I hope he gets fixed up with a decent club soon. I'm sure he's not ready for Matlock just yet (and he's waaay too good for Belper, I know).
These go to eleven.

they transfer listed him when they got relegated but it was reported his wages were too high so he stayed - wages are probably the reason he's leaving too. He'd be a good fit for our media department if he can't get fixed up - there seems to be a vacancy every year!
