To complete the statistical study, what does the 24th game need to number to take it to 7000? We could struggle if it's MK.

On a Thursday night I'd guess at MK bringing 600, Swindon 1000 & Preston the full lot.

8725 I think

Just read on the dale forum they've averaged 3300 at home this season, what a job hill could potentially do here on our budget should the inevitable happen.
Here we go again!

After 23 games these are the final figures.

Average for this season 6,925. (23 games)
Average for Saturday games only 7,271. (15 games)
Average for mid-week games only 6,375. (8 games) & Boxing day + B H Mon

A total of 159,271 fans watched a league game at home this season.

Where we finished compared with the final average for seasons past:-

0.68% down on season one
6.04% up on season two
27.51% up on season three
9.61% up on season four

So we fall just short of the 7000, but not by much, and missed out on the best season ever only by 0.68%. Great result in my eyes, what do you think?

Play off crowd should take it past the 7000.

I Think its excellent! Our crowds have just about doubled since the move and that can only be good for the long term future of the town!

Brilliant job with the stats Odysseus keep it up!

Average for this season so far 6,803. (20 games)
I personally am more than happy with the figures overall although, given how the season is finishing, I can't but feel a little disappointed with the last few home attendances, are you?

CT reckons that the average as of last Thursday is 7120ish (Chesterfield Post interview).

He's either wrong or including those who are unaccounted for in the announced attendance.

That would make sense, counting the number of tickets sold rather than attendees

There must be a fair few every week go unaccounted for in addition to the published 'attendance'.

Yesterday me and a friend had tickets but entered down the tunnel. Rather than go out and back in the turnstiles we had an amble around and made out way across to the East Stand.

With one game left, which admittedly will probably be a full house, even a 10,000 crowd will not push us past the magic 7000, although it will be dammed close, but will it be enough for the "powers that be" or more importantly for us fans?

I personally am more than happy with the figures overall although, given how the season is finishing, I can't but feel a little disappointed with the last few home attendances, are you?

Well done mate on the stats this season. Apply for the stats job at the club, if there is one! :sunglasses

I only use figures available to the public, the BBC mostly.

Cookie brought a statistician to the club during his first close season.

Not sure what happened though he seemed to dissapear.

yep, they are the ones I look at. It begs the question though as to why on earth there has to be a discrepancy. Why can't the club simply tell the BBC what figure it records?.

There's a possibility CT may be wrong with his numbers of course but clubs often have two figures, one the official reported attendance and the other which is actual attendees.

As as been said, if your talking paying customers then surely you count total paid for tickets, whereas attedances should be and is people through the turnstiles.

Nothing sinister about either figure.

And the club are trying to eradicate all none-employed attendees, issue tickets which must be scanned to people like programme sellers, 50/50 sellers etc so they get recorded at attending even if they don't buy their tickets.

It is ironic that my season ticket is only scanned if I don't attend the match...

Clear as mud. We have concerned supporters monitoring numbers all season to see whether we are doing our bit for CFC in line with the Board's requests.
Then you tell us not only that CT keeps his own higher figures, but also that those higher figures would be even higher if iffy tickets were included in the total.
Not sinister, shoddy.

Just for the stats people
If we take 3776 or more fans to Sheffield Utd we finish the season averaging 1000 away fans which would be a fantastic achievement

Add on our Wembley win attendance and we will be laughing.
