Birmingham City will be deducted nine points by the English Football League for breaching profitability and sustainability rules, reports BBC WM.

The sanction would see Blues drop from 13th to 18th in the Championship, five points above the relegation zone with eight games to play.

Losses in excess of £13m per year over a three-year period are not accepted under EFL rules.

Who’s next I wonder?

Impressive work to rack up those debts and generally have been pretty rubbish at the same time. 'arry Redknapp also involved during this time as well....another club he's been at thats ended up with financial fun and games.

I don't disagree with the principal of the rule but it has to be enforced fairly. How many teams have been promoted after several years of heavy losses? Where's their points deduction?

Problem is they've got themselves promoted before the three year thing kicks in and then they are part of a different league effectively and the EFL cant touch them. Not sure either if they can then punish them straight away if they are relegated back to the EFL or if they have to wait for the three years of losses to happen again.

QPR got stung by the EFL over FFP after they got relegated and eventually settled on the punishment following a hearing which they appealed but sorted before the appeal.

Think Bournemouth and Leicester have also been in the firing line with Leicester also having a separate investigation over some ropey sponsorship deal!!

Think it's fair leeds got 15 a few years ago. They were talking about 12 points for them before.

Shock horror, a team Harry was in charge of having financial issues

I agree that parties should be treated equitably but I don't think rules have principles - they must be explicit even if they appear odd.

The CEO messed up from what I can make out.

Little snippet about the transfer window Redknapp was involved I’ve just seen on twitter :-

He claims most of the players were signed for him without his input.

I wonder how many had Willie McKay's input? The pair enjoyed a fairly well-developed business relationship while HR was at Pompey.

This brings back the aweful memories of our judgement day when we lost 9pts thanks tothe dodgy dealings of that scumbag fatboy Darren Brown. That day was the most worrying of all my time as a Spireite. We were the true champiohs that season.

We were lucky they settled for nine and still let us go up.

If you want to ask Harry about it he's appearing in Mansfield next Friday "An Evening with Harry Rednap". Its run by Eventbrite.co.uk.

That was the amount of points we’d gained with Luke Becketts goals, as his contract(s) was the basis of the investigation and rules breach.

Add 9 points on. We still weren't champions.

I despise DB as much as anybody for what he did here, but were we the true champions with the way the squad was put together?
