I’m sure we’ll be debating this until August but I thought I’d add my early ramblings:

Jalal
LWB signing
Maguire
Evans
CB signing
RWB signing
Smith
Rowley
Carter
Striker signing
Boden

Retained squad players
Wier
Denton

Definitely released
JBW
Barry
Weston
Anyon
Reid
G Smith
Ugwu
Wakefield
Dodds
Fortune

Out on loan
Rawson
Amantchi

I’m sure I’ve missed someone obvious.

Talbot?

Agree with most of that. Although I think JBW is making a case for himself recently.

I think you missed wedgbury who will be here next season and ugwu who won't. I think the recruitment should be along the lines of signing 11 first team starters and anyone who is here will need to fight for the right to break into that team, some of the players we will have left will be able to do this but not all in my opinion.

also shaw? is he in or out of contract? can't remember

I wouldn't give Weir a new contract, his legs have pretty much gone

agree and we have smith and wedgbury under contract, I think Sheridan will want a centre mid who can control the game with the ball.

Don't know what size squad Shez prefers. I like us to have plenty of cover

Signing eleven first team starters might depend on whether or not we play many reserve team matches. Having a fit first 16 is a priority and we can't name more than that on a match day. I agree that a number of youngsters should be out on loan otherwise the squad could get cluttered up with too many kids.

The next few matches might give us an indication but so far JS has used certain OOC players with a regularity such as JBW, Weir, Weston and Barry. Is there a possibility that these could be in his plans? Similarly, have any of the loan players done enough to be in his thoughts?

I don't think there is much of a question mark over the other OOC players though but could some players in contract be no longer required?

Regarding new signings I expect a young GK to challenge Jalal, a RCB and a LCB, a strong defensive midfielder to give licence to Carter and Rowley, and another 20 goal striker to partner Boden as being quite high on the list.

I’d only try and keep - Maguire, Evans, Smith, Rowley, Carter and Boden.

All the rest can leave for me.

I think Sheridan has used the ooc players because he's had to but I get the feeling they will all be offloaded in the summer, as for the loan players, not really, we have to put together a squad to win this league and that requires a mass improvement on what we have, not many of our current squad are capable of the 7/10 week to week performances Sheridan talks of, even our better performers this season are more like consistent 6 out of 10, this is why I think he'll overhaul it in the summer, may be wrong but I don't see him just patching up the current squad

I don't think Shez will sign 11 first team players with our current lot becoming squad players. I reckon once we are mathematically safe he will experiment with players who haven't had a chance to play, to have a look at them to see if they're worth keeping. To me a pair of nippy wingers a strong midfielder a striker and a strong CB should see us ok for automatic promotion. Looking forward to next season already.

Me too, big changes required, players who can keep the ball instead of regularly giving away possession. DA will allegedly fund the promotion push. Bring it on, had 3 years of misery, no more please!

Can't see Weston being here, hope not anyway. Need more pace in the side

We need more quality. If we’re going to get promotion next season, we need much better than the likes of Weston. Bringing in a quality CM in the summer is key for me and should be priority number 1 for Sheridan.

I agree with you and if it were me I'd invite him to return down south. However, he has virtually been ever present all season under three different managers.

True - And that’s one of the reasons we were involved in a massive game/relegation battle yesterday. He’s not good enough and needs to leave along with several others.

I'd imagine that Shez didn't know this league in depth before he came and wonder if any opponents have caught his eye as potential additions to the squad. We'd be an attractive move for many of them, especially if DA stumps up the readies. Maybe RGS could ask Shez this, without naming any players obviously.
