Would have liked Stuckman to have stayed. Good shot stopper and brilliant penalty saver.

If any keeper gave me kittens, Stuckman did, he was so unpredictable you never knew what he would do next.

Right then here we go. The verdict:

Firstly didn’t go but watched the game from the warmth and comfort of my living room.

Excellent result and that is what matters at this stage of the season. 1 more win and we’re save - thank god and not Martin Allen.

In terms of the performance I have to say I wasn’t very impressed. First half although leading I thought very poor with Sutton being the better side. Goals change games second half better but far from convincing.

A few players observations.

Jalal - Didn’t have that much to do but still gives me the kittens.

Yarney - shocking one of the worst fullbacks I have seen. Dreadfull.

Evans - Solid and I like him.

Hollis - I thought did ok.

Chapman - People have been raving on about him but again I was very disappointed. Crossing in particular was terrible.

Smith- Never a fullback.

Carter & Rowley - Sorry but as others have said - I don’t think you can play both in same side.

McGuire- people have been raving about his performance. Very early days and the jury is still out for me.

Denton - Get good crosses into the box and he will score. Handfull and I will be very disappointed if Sheridan lets him go.

Boden - class finish and he has made the difference between going down and going down.

Subs - will all be released at end of season.

That just about covers it.

Walton

Thanks for your observations, Walton.

I didn't realise we played with 2 right backs????

Thought Jalal did everything asked of him.

If it is to early to decide on Maguire as a defensive midfielder then it must be to early to decide on not playing Rowley & Carter together. Surely this depends on other personnel. On the day, Joe's performance was way ahead of Charlie's even though there is a certain poster that thinks Carter has single-handedly saved our season. Charlie's mind doesn't seem right to me and it's as if mentally he isn't confident about the strength of his ankle after his injury. Only time will put this right but he needs to have more belief when in possession and be stronger when not.

Agreed about Chapman - played much better earlier in his loan period.

Yes lucky break there, Wasn't it something to do with him questioning the tactics and so MA tried to force him out?

He's probably the best keeper we've had since Tommy. Solid, communicates with the defence, decent punches etc.

noticed a big difference today without him, like jalal, he's calm, he organises well, does the basics well, as for anyon, for me he's just not there.

Be careful, you’ll get accused of picking on poor Joe for giving your opinion.

Jalal's organisation and communication are far better than even the likes of Burton & Anyon, although Burton was a great shot stopper I think his lack of communication (which is due to his age) put him under the cosh more than he needed to be.

I'll risk it, Anyon is the worst keeper I've ever seen in a town shirt, the fact he's basically been on the transfer list for 2 seasons and NOBODY wants him proves the point.

I think it'll be a huge waste of money if Anyon gets a new deal, we might as well have a youngster called up over him.

It may be the money he is on that is the sticking point for moving him on

I'm inclined to agree, though Mike Astbury usually gets mentioned by those slightly older than me, and Ole Söderberg is my least favourite due to his cowardice. Mark Gayle was very poor too.

Anyon's has to be a Branston contract, which is too large for other clubs to bother matching.
These go to eleven.

Maybe Crossley could work his magic on him?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Anyon was a 100% Caldwell signing. Came in before Branson didn't he?

I thought he came via that agency Branston was involved in, at the same time as Wiseman? Might well have been before Branston got his gig. Please do correct me if I'm wrong, someone.

Just did a quick search and found this- probably mentioned on another thread but it would be hard to make a Conference side from the 21 players for which CFC paid agents' fees.

https://www.chesterf...07-agents-fees/

"Carson also confirmed that no payments were made to Guy Branston as part of any deals to bring players to the club when he was director of recruitment and development."

Even on the unlikely assumption that Cashley is telling the truth here, who knows what ties Branston still had to his former employers in the background?
