Better news, glad they reconsidered the touted price increase!

Looks like the club haven't set up a pay monthly then by direct debit. will put some of that can't afford the full amount in one go what with the cost of living increases.?

The decision will prove popular but it is not the correct one.

Perhaps they've decided the finances are healthier than first thought.

I'd like to see an increase in prices so we can spend more on the playing budget, but then again I'm not struggling with the cost of living crisis, as yet

I don't understand why they can't. They have the DD facilities, they should be able to take 3 payments before the start of the season and surely they must have a flagging system that tells them if a DD hasn't been made so should be able to put a stop on a ST card if that happens.

Be pragmatic though and don’t blow it all pre season. Remember in this league transfers are so much more flexible.

Totally agree its gonna make it very difficult for some fans me included. as things stand at the moment its unlikely I will be able to renew unless they do something about a monthly payment plan. maybe someone can have a word with Trust who may have some influence on the matter?

Perhaps the club should do a quick survey of season ticket holders asking for how many would be interested? I’m the days of Microsoft forms and other survey platforms like survey monkey that shouldn’t be too hard. Good PR as well.

I really don't understand this take at all. Fans have surely known all year that season ticket renewal is coming up. What has stopped you from putting a few quid aside every week? The buy before you can afford culture we have is crazy.

Get a 0% credit card. Can’t get a credit card? Then why should the club take the risk on selling someone something cheaper on credit with a poor rating and have all the extra work of taking 3 payments from folk instead of one.

Season tickets going on sale has hardly come as an unexpected surprise

Save for your season tickets in advance. Or pay weekly and pick and choose games. It’s not the clubs responsibility to manage peoples finances. They’ve held prices low when they could have increased them. They’re doing their bit.

Paying for match tickets or saving for next year's match tickets?

Imho it's the correct decision given the current climate and the fact that in all likelyhood we'll be playing National league football again next season. Hopefully it may persuade fans who are thinking twice, to renew, therefore evening out any gain made by increasing the prices.

The Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire Credit Union offer loans to people who may not be able to get a 0% Credit Card. It's a not for profit social enterprise (I'm a voluntary non-executive director there) based on Soresby Street, take a look at the website.

How is paying by direct debit taking a risk? I pay my car insurance every month by direct debit because I can't afford to pay it all up front, there's no risk of me not paying the DD.
There would be no risk for the club to do direct debit for a season ticket. Take money May, June, July before the season starts and do it over 8 months means it's paid up by the end of the year and if someone doesn't make a payment, block their ST. Zero risk for the club, easier for people on low incomes to budget £40ish a month rather than trying to find £60 or £80 a month depending on the amount of home games (cost me over £100 for me and my son in February because there were 4 home games).
Just because you're ok, doesn't mean everyone is.

Last time I looked at this, you needed to have saved with them for so long before you could qualify for a loan. Don't know if that's just C&NED or the Bolsover one as well.

Perhaps a stupid question....

Does the date of the end of Early Bird Discount (30th June) correspond with the date that your reserved seat has to be given up?
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

If you can't afford it you really shouldn't be going. It's not the clubs responsibility to look after our finances.

In my opinion, they were well within their rights to increase prices this season, but they haven't. Credit should be given to them, instead of whining that we can't pay for beer and pies on a monthly basis.
