I don't think we would be able to afford him. I think we need to be looking for a short term option, somebody on a 2 year deal that is realistic for us to get and then a longer term more expensive option if it looks like we are getting somewhere.

As I've said on another thread I think Corr is a better option than what we have and would be cheap, Madine another possibility. I just think we need a bit of power and someone that can take us back to our 451. If we keep Doyle to play in behind or in a 442 so be it, but Armand isn't the answer

I'm just fed up of us having no threat at corners and free kicks

If we learned how to take a corner that would help. How many do we waste by playing it short then losing the ball or delivering straight down the keepers throat, thats if and when we manage to get it over the first defender. We cant defend them either, that's our Achilles Heel.

Nobody can play that standard of football and it not get noticed we are so cool in possession we are so cool picking and waiting to move up the pitch and its all down to his ability to put his stamp on the club..its beautiful to watch crisp accurate passing he is a fantastic coach.

PC's strengths are his ability to find obscure players and mould them into his own type of player on little money. If he went up a league he would have money galore but would be expected to bring in established players, players who've already been moulded so to say. A different type of management altogether. He may not be as good at this though. Secondly where would he find a more fantastic club with fans of our stature anywhere? So my advice to you Paul is to stay here where you are respected, admired and appreciated. Better to be a legend at a small club than just a manager at a bigger club.

You romantic fool Les  if the right bid comes in he has to think about the finances, he may only get one attempt at a Championship club, he should grab it with both hands.

The biggest worry with all of this is how much of the back room staff would follow and the void that it would cause.

God I hate this league.

I can't quite work out if you're trying to paint PC as some sort of magician or selling the bloke short!

Cook's managed to build a decent squad, made up mainly of players with experience and a few that he's managed to pull out of the hat. I don't see anything to suggest that he would struggle operating at a different level.

His appointment here has worked well for him & us, he's put himself on the map with the job that he's done and should any interest arise, he'll rightly look after himself, he's been in football long enough to know that!

Bit disappointed though,Ern. I thought it was a great bit of wordplay, and spot on. In your place I'd have stuck with it and taken the credit.
But while we've got such a fine word in front of us, I thought Mark Allott had a lot of it.

That was Marks strength. It was sometimes what he did with the ball that was frustrating for some of the fans but most of the time we kept hold of the ball

I think he is willing to give any player a chance but im not sure if cook has anything to do with the club apart from first team matters.

It's not just a case of finding them, he's willing to take the players with questionable history - Jones and Morsy to an extent who were shown the door at Vale.

He also sees potential in players knowing that he has a back room staff who can get them physically upto scratch but his one shining light is the man management side.

Take Higdon I think Cook sees the footballer through all the bitchiness that goes off and I personally wonder if he could be a good signing irrespective of whether we could afford him or not.
