Surely that would means he's offered a like for like contract elsewhere, or maybe reduced terms but for a longer period, which seems highly unlikely.

He's not gonna walk away from his deal here with nothing else lined up, why would he? You can't blame him, I certainly wouldn't.

The hope is that he can get 18 month contract elsewhere at some desperate club and it will be in his interest to take a reduced payoff.

It is a faint hope but loads of players are paid up this time of year before the transfer window closes even without clubs to go to. I presume this generally suits both parties, otherwise what is the point

However I doubt this will happen. Looking forward to seeing SEB in the reserves tomorrow!

This particular thread is based on him either starting Saturday, or getting 45 mins to increase his 'value'.

If he bucks his ideas up I've no problem with him being third choice, if he shows what he's consistently shown in his time here then i'd be tempted to move a youngster ahead of him. Either way, getting back to the op's original point, I don't see how one decent game would encourage a move for him. Happy to be proved wrong though.

He's showed he doesn't want to be here so I assume he'll be following O'Shea out the door.
God I hate this league.

The only stumbling block is Jay was wanted elsewhere!

Footballers are commodities to be bought and sold. You can buy a brand ew car and get a "bad" one but in the main they will be better and more reliable than the banger

Hundreds of examples of why buying a footballer is nothing like buying a lump of metal. No guarantee comes with a footballer no matter how much you pay. Just one example - Eliaquim Mangala from Porto to Man.City for £40 million didn't cut it and is currently on loan to Valencia where he has played just 10 games in 18 months. Valuing a car is easy. Valuing a footballer is a minefield. Some of the best players we ever had here were 'frees'. Spirite Karl seriously valued Morsy at £5 million on here - I'll never forget it.

I suspect SEB not playing in the reserves may signal he isn't in Caldwell's plans either
