So who's going to count up the petty cash now. They need to rethink this.

This has obviously been done to boost sales of season tickets for next season, and with such a terrific announcement the fan base will automatically increase.LOL

Who'd have thought we're losing 1-2 million pounds a year and we can't afford to bring any more players in to try to stave off the impending relegation, but we can afford a high salaried CEO, that brings us what exactly?? If it wasn't CFC I wouldn't believe it :glare:

And apparently now we can afford a CEO and a DOF. The salary cap is nearly breached and we are getting more senior management. Top class work with the finances.

According to wickepedia and it may be correct for once.

Director of football" is a term describing a senior management figure at a football club, most commonly used in Europe. The exact nature of the role is often unclear and extremely variable and causes much debate in the sports media.

Joking aside, I see this as a compromise.

AC's quite rightly realised CT's become far too toxic to continue as CEO, however sacking him outright would've not only been tantamount to admitting DA was wrong but probably involved a significant severance package.

So he's been shifted to a gig that can be justified by his decades in the game.

One where he can also become pretty anonymous, kept as far away as possible from fans and media alike.

Clearly AC believes that by changing the Manager and hiding the main source of controversy he can begin rebuilding PR.

"Director & company secretary Ashley Carson has revealed that Chris Turner will switch from chief executive to a director of football role at the club.

The change was agreed at a board meeting held on Monday afternoon. Carson said: "We’ve talked about the job going forward with the player recruitment for next season and it’s been decided that Chris Turner will move his role to director of football.

"That’s an important role for the club and I think at this moment in time Chris is the perfect person to move to that role, work with the new management team coming in and go out and identify players. He will go and watch them and feed back to the management team.

Carson says that there are no plans to bring in a new chief executive, adding: “At the moment we’ve still got a lot of plates spinning in the air so there’s going to some fine tuning there. I need to speak to the management team internally."

Reduces the amount of petty cash being spent.

Even if we had both roles it wouldn't impact on the salary cap which is player salaries only

Don't get it. He's never been shy when sacking managers, so why is the incompetent tw@ still being here such an issue for him.

The club could have avoided a severance package given the way his business on the side was being run

do we currently have a chief scout? I wonder if part of turners new role will embrace this, if it does it would in turn take him away from the proact on matchdays which could be a further part of the damage limitation PR side of it. having read this back before posting I realise how speculative i'm being. <_<
