So, Cineworld, Vue and Odeon have banned the ad the week before Christmas because they are scared of offending those of other or those of no faith.

Scared of offending those who couldn't care less.

Welcome to England.

Is that the official reason or your interpretation of it?

The actual cinema adverts people who sort the adverts for the big cinema companies say :-

However, the Digital Cinema Media (DCM) agency, which handles British film advertising for the major cinema chains, Odeon, Cineworld and Vue, refused to show the advert because it believed it would risk upsetting or offending audiences.
In a statement, DCM said it had a policy of not accepting political or religious advertising content in its cinemas.
It said that "some advertisements - unintentionally or otherwise - could cause offence to those of differing political persuasions, as well as to those of differing faiths and indeed of no faith," and that "in this regard, DCM treats all political or religious beliefs equally".

It would appear that yes they think it may upset different people but at the same time they would treat anything the same and have never accepted adverts like this. Appears its a bit like the church is using the chance to make a big deal of it.

It's official, pathetic, as if a Jew, Buddhist Muslim Atheist Himdu or anyone else would be offended by this.

Political Correctness, who advises these people?

To be honest seems these days anyone can come up with something to moan about....along the lines of cinemas i saw a Derbyshire Times story over the weekend that someone who didnt want to be identified had complained to them about the glass ceiling at Cineworld on Derby Rd that could make it easy for thieves to get your pin code as you use your card!!

These days it seems that some folk can be offended or upset by pretty much anything if they think they can get something out of a moan on social media about it or some compensation from a court case or settlement. I dont blame businesses at all for taking the ultra safe route as its probably the only safe way to do it!

In Wood Green the Vue cinema actually becomes a Christian church on Sunday. I think it also happens at a few others.

Have to be careful when going for the early morning Kids AM showings.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Blanket policy for all so no biggie. The less attention any type of religion gets the better for me so I can't say I disagree with their policy.

Should have checked the cinema's policy before splashing out on the ad. Still as the country's biggest landowner they can afford it.

I think it's more to do with making sure your product is inclusive so you have more potential punters.

You are becoming a bit of a bore with this now.

By the way, do you realise you are exactly the kind of person that the likes of ISIS would love? You could almost be on the payroll, demonizing Western muslims in their homelands and causing social unrest.

Guess what, companies make decisions based on their own values and who their target markets are, it's not because of some big conspiracy to implement British Sharia law or whatever other twisted fantasies you may have at night.

Agreed. Although halal is barbaric by modern standards so they've lost my custom - and I can see S&D's point as they didn't exactly publicise their decision to switch to halal.

the modern standards of stun then gas/electrocute or bolt gun as opposed to stun & then cut the throat (84% cattle, 81% sheep & 88% chicken). if animal welfare is such a concern may I suggest vegetarianism.

Before you purchase should you be informed as to how your meat has been slaughtered so you can make a choice? Should my child be fed halal meat at school when we don't feed it at home? So basically this type of meat has been placed on the menu to appease Muslims? So we have changed to accommodate their beliefs? True or False? Many come voluntary to this country should it not be those that change to fit in here. It seems to me that we are very tolerant of other cultures but those same cultures that come here to live make little effort to do likewise.

I agree here.

People say halal is barbaric or whatever but happily eat that particular animal anyway.

Whichever way you look at it the animal you eat has lost its life for your full stomach.

Sorry but having seen both methods for myself please do not confuse them. Halal is way way more horrific than our standard methods of slaughter. If they want meat in our country they should eat it slaughtered how we slaughter the animals not the other way around.

Please explain what you've witnessed and how they differ. I'm interested.
