His showing against rochdale - after such quality at Shrewsbury - was disappointing to say the least but I hope you are right. This could be his year, like last year was Doyle's.

All about consistency for JOS. he's got undoubted ability but does go missing for large parts of games sometimes. If he can be consistent he'll be player of the year.

yes he was consistently good in L2 but I have had doubts about his ability to reproduce that form in L1, which is why I considered him a squad player rather than a starter in a L1 team with promotion ambitions. Happy to be proved wrong and maybe things will fall into place for him this season. Looked great at Shrewsbury on the highlights, was poor albeit in a generally inept team performance against Rochdale.

I said at Ilkeston that I thought JO would end up as top scorer, especially if he is our penalty taker.

It's all about playing games. I would be interested to know how many times O'shay was substituted after starting a game when Cook was manager, because for me he was the first name Cook thought of whether he was playing well or not. That has to play havoc with your confidence!! You think you are playing well and the next thing you are back on the bench. We used to have a little bet among the people I sit with last year about who would be the first sub - it got silly because we all said O'Shay and we were usually right. He's a good player, poor match against Rochdale but generally a sound player - scores important goals too!
