That's a worry I hope he's not done a Cookie and fail to appreciate how popular that fixture is nothwithstanding a handy side to loan a player or two out.

Good to see the Sheffield & Staveley games having staggered kick off times so town fans can attend both - a first I think

Yes the Matlock twitter feed was being too confident this game would take place.

Personally it would be nice to have a season off and visit different places as we are this year.

cos that worked out so badly for Cook's team?

I'd rather the manager gets the games he wants to prepare the team for the season ahead then hold on to some sort of obligation to play Matlock!

Couldn't care less if we play them or not

Yeah who cares about tradition or the time we helped you out when cash was tight?

I'm sure (and no disrespect) to Staveley MW will give you a harder pre season task

Have a good season lads and lasses and best of luck!

Calm down, might only be for one season.

Any help Matlock gave Town when cash was tight has been repaid many times over by the revenue generated for Matlock by the almost yearly fixture which must see Matlock's biggest crowd of the season

I don't dislike playing Matlock, I simply don't care if we do or not and don't understand the view held by some that it is some sort of disaster if we don't play at Matlock in pre season

It just hurts so much and I wanted to interview Martin and try to avoid the Joe treatment

Whatever happens, happens and as I've said I wish you all the best of luck for the National League season.

To Matlock, it's a huge deal though and would be a big miss hosting your excellent fans for what is usually a good game of football with good weather and plenty of ale flowing. It would be nice to carry on a tradition but if it's not to be then fair enough.

By far the best pre-season game going, and probably my favourite few matches over the last three years just for the fish and chips. Always have a soft spot for Matlock and would be nice to see a game get arranged before the season starts

Only 1 home game then, should ensure a well deserved decent crowd for Tommy!

The statement said that one or two more games may be announced so I assume Matlock is one of them.

Belper Town have just announced their own pre-season programme, including this at Belper:

Tuesday 7/8/18 v Chesterfield XI (K.O. 7:30PM)
These go to eleven.

I guess the Handsworth game (previously announced) , and the above will see the Academy plus a few of the 'Transfer Listed' competing as a Chesterfield XI
