At last the Commons Select Commitee says what many of us have thought for years, that Team Sky oversteps an ethical line, and although it can't be proven, there is a strong line of thought that many of these legal "therapeutic" drugs, many used for the treatment of asthma, are actually being use to enhance performance.

So this condition that Wiggins suffers from was diagnosed in 2003, by wait for it, a British cycling doctor! And then prescribed the drugs. On the news tonight speaking to a respiratory specialist he said it would normally only be given if a patient was that unwell they were in hospital or in need of admitting to hospital.

The drug he was taking, Triamcinolone, is also apparently that strong doctors don't recommend more than 1 course a year. Wiggins apparently had 9 courses in four years!, and was still well enough to win the Tour de France and Olympic golds! Absolutely stinks. Like Mr Smith says, anyone else other than GB the press would have been all over it years ago. Thankfully the media are now reporting, also many questions to be answered by other cyclists, swimmers and athletes. It would be very interesting to know how many of these have been asthma suffers all their life or who have been diagnosed in later years by Doctors with links to the sport they participate in!

Wiggins is a pussy compared to Anquetil, Pantani, Armstrong, Riis, Simpson, Virenque, Merckx, Rasmusssen, Vinoukorov, Contador, plus virtually most who rode for Festina and more recently Astana, nevermind the shenanigans of early years.

At least they took some proper drugs or did something illegal. It is worse for Brad as his guilt is presumed rather than actual.

Have Sky played the rules, absolutely. Are they unscrupulous, absolutely. Do they court controversy, absolutely. They have always looked for an edge from day one. Does that mean in this instance Wiggins has cheated? If he had we would know by now.

If you like you sport clean, best avoid push bikes.

I’d hazard a guess he isn’t the only rider who’s got “bad asthma” even outside of froome and sky.

Also isn't Laura Trotts husband, elite cyclist Jason Kenny, an asthma sufferer?

But if cycling and team doctors are diagnosing their own team members as asthmatic, then prescribing very powerful drugs which appear extremely potent, have they played by the rules?

Strictly speaking yes.

Until the rules are changed.

if team sky are falsely claiming their cyclists have asthma so they can claim the tue then they have broken the rules.

the rules need changing as tue are too easy to abuse.
if you have an asthma attack you don't cycle, if that means you miss out on Olympics/tour etc tough.

So Sky announce they are leaving the cycling sponsorship deal with Team Sky at the end of 2019... getting out at the right time?

Sky been taken over and reviewing a lot of sponsorship and spending apparently and dont want to chuck the £30m'ish quid at cycling as they were doing. Brailsford said he's already had calls about new sponsors so suspect they will carry on under a different name. Biggest team in cycling will be an attractive proposition.
