You Are The Manager

I'd suggest
1. Bolster midfield by identifying a partner (or partners) for Morsy in midfield who can help with retention of the ball
2. Full-back positions now BOTH need filling
3. Return to high-tempo, pressing from the front football when not in possession not conceding possession, holding back, playing on the break negative football.
4. Team spirit - how can you lift the gloom, get the players enjoying the game again

I think number 4 has probably taken care of itself with the removal of DS, all other points agree with

I wonder what the players opinion on him as a manager actually were, are they glad to see him go, or regretful they didnt perform better for him?

Think we have a squad of thirty players, whoever comes in needs to get at least ten of them farmed out on loan somewhere & work their socks off trying to bring in players of the calibre that Cook got in when he came on board.

I don't like your tone, Oscar, re seb! He has scored 7 in 18, that's hardly a shambolic disgrace.

Re. 1, Just a suggestion, how about Sam Hird in front of back 4 and a 2 of Morsy and Herd/Oneil/Banks in front of him?

Then how do you set up up top? You are probably going to have to play 1 up top to allow for two wide players and then are we going to get enough players in advanced positions in the oppositions box? Lot of pressure on Morsy and who ever is next to him to get forward.

When January comes we need to strengthen in the fullback areas and in central midfield, throw in someone to play wide who has a good work ethic and we still have a decent side. Although when Morsy goes, not sure how we could cope without a good few more players.
Loan system to be used? We certainly need a manager who knows the lower leagues!

Juventus played last night in a 3-5-2 formation.
In my opinion we might have the players to fit into such a formation. We don't have a "one" for one up top and we are struggling for full backs.

Agreed, back to 1 up top but I don't think Ebanks-Blake is the sort to want to 'run all day' - The closest we have is probably Simons or Mani but it's putting so much on young shoulders who aren't really ready.
I think I'd go something like
Lee
Talbot - Evatt - Raglan - Humphreys
Hird
Gbolly - Morsy - Banks
O'Shea
Mani (Or Simons)
It's really difficult - I've already changed my mind twice since I wrote this down

Wonder what the score would be if that side played against our line-up from this time last season?

The present Tommy Lee's spine would eventually just snap in two under the strain of having to continuously bend over and pick the ball out of the net.

HAHA! This tickled me. Truthfully, I'm very hopeful that players who we saw perform last year will be subject to a confidence boost under Smith (or more accurately, not under Saunders). With this in mind, and the fact that we're pretty much screwed until January in terms of new faces...maybe this?
Lee
Herd Evatt Raglan Talbot
Hird Morsy
O Shea Novak
SEB Simons
Thats the best I can do.
Jud out.

I think that team would get dry gulched by all and sundry.
