Cheers. I was hoping that somebody like freelander would come on and tell us what the club was worth - hence my 'come in freelander' in a previous post in this thread. So the club was worth no more than about £2 million to any potential buyer - am I reading that correctly ?

Well sort of.If you bought the club it would cost you £2 million or so, however as the owner you would be responsible for around £8million + worth of debt, so in reality its costing you around £10 + million - based on those figures above. But then there are players value, level of the clubs league position to take into account.

Cheers -understood - that's what I thought but hadn't considered possible player values and even which league we might be in.

£10 million or so gets you CFC! Can't see anybody at all in the queue at that!

As an accountant, but no expert in the valuation of football clubs, I can tell you, simply, the club is worth what a buyer will pay and what a seller will accept.

As KITB says, the 'book' value is only £1.7M, and that assumes a value of the 'tangible' assets at £13.2M. Would a buyer agree with this as a market value? Players are shown at cost, less write offs- - £27k. DA would tell any buyer he has players worth at least £2M, I am sure. Additionally he may say he wants a premium on top of that. Plus of course he would require repayment of all his loans.

Ultimately, he has paid almost £5M for shares in the club, so whatever, he may say he wants that back, plus his loans.

Thanks. As in everything. What it's worth is what you can get - a la Doyle !
