Can someone please explain what this means? It seems to get used in so many different scenarios that I'm not sure the folk that use even have a proper understanding of it,...

And I don't want the Google definition, just people's opinions of what they think it means.
Cheers.😳👍

I’d define it as being extremely sensitive on issues such as race, gender and what is and what isn’t acceptable on a wide range of subjects, but taking it to the nth degree so much as to make any valid argument you may have seem ridiculous. Thus diluting your whole point as people just see the ludicrousness of what you are saying rather than amy valid point behind it.

People getting angry on other people’s behalf and having a condescending view of anyone who doesn’t agree with their view or opinions

The cancelling is almost exclusively the other way.

I don't think there's any condescension on here.

But well done for understanding such a big word...

Condescension is what the internet is for. Along with people showing their bits and bobs.

You're right.

The sight of Farage and his supporters squealing like schoolgirls who'd dropped their ice creams over Joe Brand's amusing acid quip was beyond pathetic...

Woke is a term, originating in the United States, that originally referred to awareness about racial prejudice and discrimination. It subsequently came to encompass an awareness of other issues of social inequality, for instance, regarding gender and sexual orientation.
It later became a term of derision for conservatives to describe people who, in earlier times would have said “it’s political correctness gone mad”. It’s become a shorthand for people who hold ‘right on’ opinions.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Yeah, we've moved on from the time of slavery. The latter definition is nothing but an accession to self importance, arrogance and self-righteousness.

Is a biological man who identifies as a woman the same as a woman? Should a biological man who identifies as a woman use female changing rooms in a public swimming pool? Would a biological female be comfortable with that? If she isn’t and complains is she a Neanderthal? But you’ve questioned that. Branded them a Neanderthal. That is woke.

If inclusion of all is acceptable, when for example a particular religion insists on segregation of sexes when they pray? What takes precedence here, religious right or sexual equality? Woke is criticism for teven asking that question…because you dare question the cultural and religious practices of a minority.

What takes precedence? Equal right for homosexuals or a church/mosque/synagogue refusing to carry out same sex marriage? Asking the question is exposing a potential minority to scrutiny, not allowed.

That is woke. The departure from reality, not the desire for equality. The desire to promote inequality in favour of minorities. Not equality. That is woke.
