This.

Everyone deserves a second chance especially when it's highly debatable if he really is guilty.

So if you had a kid at a school would you be happy if the teacher had done time for rape?

He was convicted according to the British justice system therefore he is guilty.

There is no way if town signed a convicted rapist I could ever cheer for them. You may think it's daft, I don't really care, but I don't think hero worshipping convicted rapists is cool.

He is guilty as he was tried in a court for his crime! Someone doesn't get sent down for the amount of time he has without substance

I ain't getting into this debate again! I will say one thing....It has been known for juries to come to the wrong verdict before.

Obviously not saying he's innocent by any stretch but it's far from impossible for a jury to come to the wrong conclusion.

Completely agree with you, juries are not infallible. Many cases were innocent people found guilty, and equally many situations when the guilty have been found innocent. Often decision depends on who is on the jury, how good your legal team is. Only have to look at the tax cases involving Lester Piggott and Ken Dodd, the later was as guilty as former but got off because the jury liked him.
Not saying Chad Evans was innocent though.

They do. But obviously where kids are concerned you can't have a sexual deviant teaching them. And let's remember there are different kinds of rape. There are the rapists who snatch women at night for instance, then there are the ones where the woman has freely gone to the guys hotel bedroom, got into bed with him probably led the guy on then either changed her mind or says she was too drunk to say yes!

Maybe I'm a 'do gooder' or whatever the phrase on the forum but I really can't believe there's sympathy for a convicted rapist. Shameful really

No debate at all. He is guilty. Of course your prejudices are clearly showing here but he had a fair trial, employed the best counsel money could buy, put his case before the jury, who, unlike you, heard ALL the evidence and came to their decision accordingly.

Do you think all convictions are 'debateable' or is it just this one? If it's just this one - why? You have no first hand knowledge of the case so you are basing your opinions on what exactly?

Apologists like you who spout off knowing nothing about the case basing their opinions on blind prejudice are laughable. You sound like you have had a negative experience of the courts yourself and are letting that convince you that every decision made by a court, ever, is wrong. If I was a criminal I'd certainly want you on my jury!

You really ought to let this rest. You are sounding less like an apologist and more like somebody who has personal knowledge of something similar with every post you make and I'm sure that isn't the impression you want to give. A jury heard all the evidence and decided he was guilty. You have heard none of the evidence but have decided otherwise. Very odd position to take up.

Any team that employs a convicted rapist could potentially face serious financial consequences, many sponsors may be reluctant to be associated with the club and it could well impact on the number of parents willing to pay for their kids to be match day mascots if they are likely to come in contact with the player.

It's bad that this has been brought up again, but was inevitable i suppose.

Just a quick one though, how many people on here like Robin Van Persie....

It just shows how easy it is though doesnt it? For me it's one of the worst things going, but it's nigh on impossible to prove either way, maybe this could've gone the same way, except the fact it went so far, n got massive national coverage? i can't think of one single person that didnt have an opinion on this.

I'm not advocating what happened in a single way, but personally i was never convinced, people will say you didnt see the evidence blah blah. but it's an opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
