I'd recommend any music fans get the free trial with rdio.com. It's similar to Spotify but far better syncing with my phone. I'm listening to a load of music I've not got round to that's come out over the last year or so. I'll be tempted to actually pay for it when my trial ends though I think they extend the free trial to 6 months according to Money Saving Expert who recommended it.

And a suggestion for Heavy Soul, who shares my music taste...if you've not listened to them give Band of Horses, Mirage Rock a listen. You'll like it.

I've heard of David Holmes. Mainly from his remixes. Frightened Rabbit is a new one.

scottish, for want of a better genre description, folk band. mumford & sons meets trainspotting (without fiddles & such like). youtube/spotify/rdio.com something like 'poke'
david holmes is marvellous in a moody cinematic kind of way. hes remixed primal screams new single '2013' & made them listenable for the first time in yrs.

The beauty of this rdio is that if they've got it I can have it on my mobile in seconds. I'll have a listen.

Not when you're only way of listening is that way. I have a CD player in the kitchen, all my Vinyl in the loft and CDs in the bedroom. There's nothing more convenient than clicking a couple of buttons and having music on your phone. Those two records (I am old school really) Mr Smith mentioned are already on my phone.

I'm going into alphabetical order now. Bat for Lashes.

Cheers Tim ill check them out.

Ill have to say the thing I've listened to most lately is an album called "the courage of others" by a band called midlake. It's an album I'd had in the house for ages but lately just got round to putting it on. Can't even remember why I bought it or even if I did (i may have borrowed it)It's beautiful though. Very melancholy. I've looked them up and they've two other albums which ill be getting.

Listened to fives leave left by nick drake and either/or by Elliott smith aswell today.

Going for Gold was on the radio the other day. Took me back.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Currently been listening to Powderfinger (all their back catalogue really) and I Am Kloot's new album.

Oh and got a couple of albums from the library to check out - Divine Comedy's 'Bang Goes The Knighthood' and a Nick Drake compilation album. Not warming too much to either to be honest (though both have their brief moments).

I quite like Frightened Rabbit, Mr Smith's selection. Suitably sombre indie.

Tim if you never listen to any other album I urge you to listen to "pink moon" by nick drake. It's the final album he made, mostly just him and his guitar.

I know I keep going on a out him but he really is that good. A very troubled man who's life was pretty much at its end when he recorded it, in the final stage of his life, recorded in the early hours of the morning in a room with him facing the wall and back to everyone else (allegedly) yet it's one of the most beautiful records you'll ever hear. Forgive me as I'm drunk but sat here with headphones in listening to it now but I can't big this album up enough.

I also have all the high tech equipment for the albums not available on vinyl, I am sorry but the sound from vinyl is far superior to the digital stuff, especially when played on high quality equipment. The only digital music I have or want is that that can't be bought on vinyl which is basically the really new stuff and mpst of the new stuff is garbage that is masquerading as music nowadays.Mind you there is some good stuff but not much IMO. The Linn whirring around at 33 1/3 with Crime of the Century by Supertramp. 44 years of music collecting = 4000+ albums no singles. Hope I live long enough to enjoy them all again (mind you there is some crap in among them though)
