Change one outfield player and every other team will just try to stifle him. The only way to stop a goalie influencing the game is to stop shooting at him.

No mention of any from Barcelona so I reckon we discount Messi
I'm assuming they'll be more if Dennis and/or Rowley go.

It's got to be a squad addition - a goal scorer. Competition for Dennis which is provided neither by O'Grady, Ugwu, or Diego at the moment. Who will score goals if Dennis isn't available?

I'm wondering why Dennis needs competition. In the best scoring run of his life there was no competition at Curzon Ashton, now free from competition he's scoring for us. Maybe he only feels like a big fish when he's the only one in the barrel.

So, if he's not available?

Well Spain didn't choose a striker, they picked Cesc Fabregas ........
Being unavailable doesn't involve competition, it's having a reserve and we've got that. Ugwu got 19 goals last season, we've yet to really see what Jack's influence might do for him.
Of course Jack might actually think that selling Dennis might give him the chance to get something even better.

Why don't you simply enter into the spirit of the first post in the thread? That's all I did.

And so did I, I wanted a goalie, okay Jan Oblak is flying a bit high ........... All I pointed out to you is that some players don't do better when under competition for their place. Dennis may well be one looking at his record. He's always been a big fish in a puddle when he's done well.
For me an extra body up front to go with perhaps Dennis, Ugwu, O'Grady and German is probably a minor priority behind a retired keeper and a replacement with broken arm.
BUT all of us assume Jack would like to hang on to Dennis ....... what if he thinks selling him is a way to build his team in January? Jack seems to be getting everything right. If that was his thinking my point was - that would change everything and I'D HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU except a striker wouldn't be competition. Is it that so outrageous a thought, that Jack might sell one asset to get us better or more? And if by January Ugwu were fit and ripping everybody apart in training, O'Grady were showing some form and we got a big offer for Dennis wouldn't you be shuffling priorities in your head too?
I thought that was what the original post wanted us to do, both serious and funny - a good post designed to make us think ........ I'd still like Jan Oblak though, fifteen clean sheets to the end of the season would do me!
