I think the root cause of the problem is that he is not a LB. The ideal solution is to make use of his stamina, power, and no little amount of skill further forrad. I assume it's his lack of goals that restricted his appearances at Peterborough, but he looks to have potential to me to get a few.

To be fair to Akinde he did well to make use of the space created by Evvo bing in no mans land. Good movement by him and a good ball to find him. A good goal from their perspective an awful one for Evvo/BW

It looks to me like a half assed offside attempt, which you can't do when the man on the ball has so much time. Basic stuff. Nobody barking orders?

We made a very slow start, as against Mansfield, and even their goal seemed to happen in slow motion.
Need to be fired up from the kick-off against Wycombe, who score for fun.

As I said earlier a lack of communication, Evvo pushing up other 3 stayed in line and didn’t go with him. Whatever the reason shocking goal to concede.

The Wycombe who have scored 16 goals in their last 10 games; the same as us? The Wycombe who have scored 10 in their last six, that's two less than us?

Just goes to prove we are scoring for fun

There does seem to be a pattern when it comes to the defending of JBW; as opposed to his attacking abilities.

He's a bit too laid back in the defending department; too complacent. Needs a bit more tenacity But if he isn't really a LB then Caldwell didn't even bother signing one

Or the Wycombe who average more than two goals a game at HOME, second highest in the division.

If you want to flog the statistics, at least use the relevant ones.

I'll stick to my own definition of 'scoring for fun' and what are relevant stats thanks.

If averaging 2 goals a game at home is scoring for fun it's a miserable division

No need for thanks - always a pleasure to help to clear up errors.

Lies, damned lies and statistics, eh?

I'll not dignify that post with a direct response, but just let it hang there; says more about you than the issue being discussed.

Whatever the stats, Wycombe is a crucial game psychologically. They walloped us 'cos they were miles brighter and fitter. I assume they retain the same fitness levels so if we get owt then I'll be down the bookies.

I see the star of that particular show, Scott Kashket, has been out all season with an injury. We have only three players still here who had time on the pitch that day, one being Evo. No doubt he will be reminding one and all that we owe them one.
I will be happy with one win from the next two games, can't be too greedy after the start to the season we've had.

I'll be happy with 2 draws. Watching the full game on iFollow*, there looked to be several walking wounded by the end. Hird, Barry, Kellett, Dennis, perhaps Rowley.

* It's a long time since I've seen such an outrageous deflection for our first goal. The type that Man Utd and Chelsea get but never us. Has our luck changed?
* Villain Briggs could have had 2 goals coming in on right wing crosses. He connected well on both occasions but got blocked.
* The ref and linesmen made some crazy decisions mostly, I have to say, in our favour.
* Joe Rowley missed his sitter and put a cross into the North stand in the space of 2 minutes. Other than that he was excellent.
* I thought they had one very good shout for a penalty.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

I'm not Statto, but isn't two goals a game at home promotion form at least? Averaging two at home and just one away would make 69.

Burton got 68 didn't they and ran away with Div 2 and wasn't it Chesterfield who won the division with 71 goals?

It depends how many the opposition score.

Yes fishi - and I learned it all from reading your posts.

For heavens sake. let it drop. Life's too short to be constantly airing grudges.

It's not two goals a game, it's 2.3 is the average. May not sound much more, but it's a difference of 8 goals over a season.
Takes a lot of doing.
