Denton is always a useful player to have. Absolute unit.

I recall watching Town in a pre-season friendly at Alfreton a few years ago and I think Denton played for them as a trialist. One old boy home fan was telling me that it was hardly a secret who it was, given his appearance.
These go to eleven.

Have we actually ever beat these? They seem to do us every year

Was Asante on the bench, not sure why commentators were talking about him coming on in second half? 2 good goals from Alfreton thought they deserved the win but cracking header from Tom also did his bit defending corners, we looked rusty need some more match time I think

At least it gives JR an insight where work needs to be done. Big tom's goal was beautifully placed and an essential member of the squad. Good to see him back.

Asante is out until the new year.

Alfreton have had 2 or 3 games before us, so not suprised they looked fitter

Tbh I don't think they looked better, .. we pretty much dominated the play, but a 10 min spell 1st half saw them get a pen, and last 10 mins of 2nd half, saw us tire,..even with the subs on, understandable in this heat,... a good game, plenty to improve on, Rowley tho, for me is done,.. not the player he could have been and certainly punching above his weight even in this league..
Hope he can prove me wrong, but for me,.... done.

Edit thought it said better, not got me glasses... lol

Fire everyone, move the team to Albuquerque, Rowe Out!!! I'd rather lose these then games that matter! I want to know who the two right sided Centre Back trialists are. The one in the first half way better then the lad in the second.

I think it’s been covered in another thread that Carline has a niggling injury and Rowe is having to self isolate.

But if Alfreton deserved to win we must have been pretty dire especially in defence

Loach - didn’t have much to do other than pick the ball out of his net. Would have liked him to do more with the second.

King - Up and down the wings well. Looked sharp.

Grimes - commanding presence in defence, often had to do more to make up for a poor looking triallist aside him.

Miller - Didn’t really do much. Right or wrong.

Khan - Really busy in midfield. Definitely a player there. Gave away a silly penalty though after misjudging a clearance and let his overall afternoon down.

Payne - Worked hard but didn’t do anything to catch the eye. We were really quite poor in the first half so hard to judge a striker.

Of our current crop nobody really did anything to get me up and excited. No moment of real quality that really stood out for me.
I thought the triallist that scored our goal looked pretty good and it was a shame to see him get injured.

Tyson I thought was really poor.

Ah well minutes in the legs.
