As a very impressionable 8 year old I saw him score 4 goals v Newport County in what I think was his home debut ( maybe not )
Later in life he laughed out loud at me on his shop on Brampton when I reckoned Frank Lampard would play many times for England
Ask any fan of a certain age of any club and they will know who Ernie Moss played most of his career with
RIP to a bloke who was patently a gentleman and a very very good striker

Oh this is sad news.
Random memories...3 against Reading in the first half in 1970.
The winner against Barnsley in the cup that took Town to Stoke.
Loads of autographs.
Thank you Ernie.
nice piece here on his time at Vale, with a great pic of Ernie and Bob Newton.

R.I.P Ernie
As a youngster, with my Dad taking me to games in the late 70's , Ernie was my first "Footballing Hero"
The constant chant ringing out of "ERNIE ERNIE ERNIE" was something that stuck with me as a young football fan.
A true CHESTERFIELD FC LEGEND, and a truly humble, friendly and decent human being.
Ernie, you may have left us all now, but you will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
God bless

2 of the goals in that match against Reading were headers into the middle of the goal from about the penalty spot at the Cross Street End from crosses from Kevin Randall on the right hand side. They were 2 of the most identical goals you could ever wish to see
Thanks for the great memories Ernie RIP
