Any recommendations for food near the ground and can dogs go too?

If you cross the park opposite the ground head for the bandstand and across the footbridge over the river there are a number of pubs/eateries on Dale Road. I think the Remarkable Hare and what used to be Moca does decent food and drinks and I’m sure they allow dogs.

Cool, it's my birthday next Wednesday so we are hoping to make an evening of it and can't want to leave the dog alone for too long 😁

Don't know about the dogs, but you can get the very best fish & chips for miles around at the Matlock Green fish bar a short stroll from the ground.

That is a good chippy but the Red Lion is nearby just at the junction where the A632 ends at Matlock Green. They definitely do food and will allow dogs although I haven’t been in since it became a microbrewery

If you go through the park and over the bridge to the road on the other side of the river there is a few decent pubs and fairly sure some of them do food.

There are often dogs at Matlock games, they post a lot of photos on their twitter of them.

We are all extremely looking forward to hosting you a week on Wednesday. It's always a treat to see old & new faces, the Spireite fanbase is always a pleasure to host and we've formed a strong friendship over the years.

I will check in here a few times this coming week and endeavour to answer any questions that you may have about the game.

We do allow dogs in to games and I'd recommend the tea hut in the ground, all our pies are all English meat raised at a farm only a few miles from the ground and put together by local butchers EW Coates. We think it's vastly important to support local businesses especially in these strange times. If you are making a day of it then places like The Mad Hatter & The Remarkable Hare serve some top notch grub in a friendly atmosphere.

That’s a very unhelpful rule. Since when did licensing issues become a police matter?

the main thing is that we can stand and watch the match without any real covid limitations not that some are people are concerned that they cannot have a drink whilest they do so

who knows for how long we will be able to do that

It’s one of the great pleasures of watching football at Matlock’s level.

Meanwhile the drinkers will be crammed inside the lounge breathing in each other’s breath.

Why after years and years of it being a non issue has it become an issue ?

As we told Mansfield Town fans, we don't set the rules, we just have to abide by them as laid out but it shouldn't spoil a great evening.

Can't see that the police have thought about it . I see it as a rule to control drinking rather than covid . They are allowing loads to drink in the club but not allowing people to be outside in space strange decision

I am not saying that the new rule is correct just that there a more pressing things to worry about at the moment

Great idea. Let folk cram inside for a beer and leave all the space in the outdoors for everyone else.

I do think some policy making at local and National levels is pretty mental, this is a fine example of that.

What’s wrong with selling cans out of a big ice bucket like they normal do at Matlock? Much safer than a packed bar and huge queues to get in and out

At Nottingham races on Friday you were told when entering the course that you could only drink alcohol sat down at tables in drinking venues, either inside or out and u couldn’t take the drink to watch the race….that lasted until about 20 mins before the first race then just became irrelevant.
