Hi everyone!

Episode 5 is out now with Tom Curtis.

Really interesting to talk about his career in coaching now (working with the England under 15s and under 17s and doing some scouting for Southgate).
And also how Mark Williams spent the FA Cup semi final determined to kick the ball out of Old Trafford.

Also covered penalty taking, mixing uni with playing week in week out and the Battle of Saltergate.

Suspect he doesnt mention turning out for West Hallam CC at Clay Cross when they thoroughly stuffed us...he was a very tidy cricketer.

Seem to remember quite a few of the CFC lads at that time knew one end of the bat from the other!

Brilliant interview with Tom, this series needs to be given more exposure and marketing via the club if possible. The whole hour fully resonated with my experiences and memories of some fantastic days.
So good to hear his coaching exploits what a bonus he would be to our youth development and coaching future. He did indicate he would be interested but not sure if we could afford him.
Well done for the series a great listen.

He does mention playing a few games of cricket for the county. Was well into his swimming too.

Tom definitely had a managerial air about him so wonder if he could be involved in the club at some point in the future.

Thanks for the kind words about the podcast. I did tell them at the club that I was doing it before I started as I didn't want them to think I was stepping on anyone's toes. I told them that if they wanted to use any of it then they are welcome to. I'm not getting any monetisation from it so happy for them just to be seen and shared.

I recorded the David Reeves episode earlier in the week (will be out next week). That was very revealing. Touched on nearly not signing for Chesterfield, a bit on Darren Brown and then the circumstances around being released by McFarland and Richardson that made his exit from the club a bit of a sour point. A very funny guy as you'd expect.

Hi DaveJust managed to get the first couple watched and thoroughly enjoyed them. Thanks for giving your time and for putting the whole thing together. Will catch up with 3, 4, and 5 in the next few days. Certainly some happy memories. I don’t know you personally but your face is very recognisable and you sit not to far away from me in the East Stand so first chance I get I will say hello and thankyou personally👍👍. In fact I think we may have passed pleasantries at the bar underneath the stand or on the steps up-to the seats at some point.Anyway take care mate and crack on with the good work.

Hi everyone. The latest episode has landed today with Steve Ogrizovic. A lovely chap with a lot of love for the town.

Some funny stories about Arthur Cox who used to lead the goalkeeper training, pinging balls at him from 10 yards in the Saltergate centre circle and if he dropped one he had to run a lap of the pitch.

It's available on the YouTube page here. https://www.youtube....jC3TKRJSXnV-inQ
And it's also on all the usual podcast platforms (iTunes, Spotify etc)

I'm speaking to David Reeves on next Tuesday if anyone has any questions?

Great listen to Oggy about the first Arthur Cox team but Oggy it was Harold Roberts as youth coach not Alf lol

Also his transfer fee to Liverpool of £72000 is worth £507000 in todays money

No wonder Arthur Cox told him he was going no questions asked

Time for another podcast and this week it's David Reeves.

A really funny man. Lot of talk about his favourite ever goal vs Cambridge, his goals for Carlisle against Chesterfield (any how most of the Carlisle team were drunk during the match), a bit on Darren Brown and how he used to do Ian Breckins contract.

He was also very upfront on his release from the club under McFarland and why it left bitter taste in the mouth!

On YouTube now https://www.youtube....h?v=CRTM46f2eXw
And all the podcast link are here https://linktr.ee/legendsofthespire

Thanks for everyone that has spread the word and shared it around.

Brilliant podcast, great interview with Reevesey.

Good onsite about the new stadium Vs saltergate etc.

Can't believe how Roy M. Handled him. Looking back I'd have much rather had another season or 2 with Reeves instead of "The Chief".

Totally agree with the comments re Roy Mac, thought he had more integrity than that

Just wait until next week's episode with Alan O'Hare. Lee Richardson treated him dreadfully.

Cheers chaps. Definitely plenty more to come. I want to work my way through the whole FA Cup semi team.

Just interviewed Paul Hall this afternoon about his time at the club. He's now u23s coach at QPR. And chatting to Jamie Lowry tomorrow.

I think both Jamie & Tom raised important discussion points about player development. Has the introduction of academies, player pathways and analytics helped or hindered the number of young players who actually make the grade?

It's been interesting to hear about how people started in football and that change from YTS to youth academies.

Episode 7 has just come out today. It's Alan O'Hare this week.

Good fun talking about Sam Allardyce from his time at Bolton, that studs up tackle in his bits, the league cup run and what went off under Rico in his last year at the club.
Really honest about how tough it was at the end of his career and the mental challenges of changing careers. He's loving his time in the police now.

Would be a really good person to get on the co-commentary for a match someday.

Just watched this, really enjoyed it. I remember the final whistle after the Luton game and the look of sheer joy on his face. I used to meet up with his Dad on a few occasions before games home and away. We used to meet up in the County pub on Saltergate and drink lots.

Cracking family and its nice to see Alan's doing ok, he's not had it easy since he finished playing.

Tough competition so far but I think Alan O'Hare has been the best guest to date.

Perhaps some of these could be hosted down at the Technique in front of a live audience with food and drink as part of the offering.
