If there are any holocaust deniers on this board l hope they watched the programme Night Will Fall. I don't think any programme has moved me as much as this one has. This the reason I will never knowingly buy anything German ever.

Such a lovely race, after all they only murdered 6m people whatsmore the general public knew it was happening and many paid to hire slave labour from the slave camps, oh and I nearly forgot it was only 70 years ago And they still think they are masters of Europe. Arrogance is in their blood. If you like them thats your choice, I choose to detest them if thats OK with you.

Have you heard the uncut version of Roger Taylor's "nazis 2004"? if not give it a look on you tube..sums it up perfectly I think.

The Germans are no more a race than British people are, you are falling into the trap of saying everyone of a certain nationality is the same. It's like someone accusing all Brits of being Xenophobic because they have read your words.

Do you not see the irony in saying you hate a certain race and then berating all of them for actions not all of them agreed with. Maybe you should round all the Germans up?

I lived in Germany for many years and they were lovely people. Absolutely nothing like you portray.

The holocaust was a black mark on the human race, particularly the Germans but modern Germany is a million miles away from that horror. Virtually every country on earth has committed horrific crimes, don't you drive an Italian car?

The German people work hard, they study hard and they have built up a country that was all but extinct. I made many German friends, none of whom I blame for the Holocaust. You've made yourself look a bit daft mate.

I've been up to Bergan Belsen a few times, it was a place where friends and family always wanted to go when they came over to visit, it is a shocking place and its a very sad place and anyone who goes who doesn't feel pain in their heart cant be human. It may surprise you to learn that many of the tears I saw at that godforsaken place were rolling down the cheeks of German faces, not because the were feeling guilty as it was a different generation but because they felt the same sadness and pity as you or I.

Bit harsh to blame current Germans for the atrocities of before.
That would be like a lot of the empire countries hating all English for what happened.
Or all Muslims for terrorism
Or all BBC presenters for sex abuse
Etc

You must be bi-polar because for every thoughtful interesting comment you make, you have some sweeping generalisation.

I think there is a big difference between German Soldiers and members of the Nazi Party. Most of the former went home after being demobed unless they were in Eastern Europe or Russia where a lot ended up in labour camps themselves. Whatever happened to the Nazis is another matter.

I prefer to take the side of the holocaust survivor this morning on five live. Not an ounce of hatred at all in him. Moving story and he moved to marry a German lady later in life.

Holocaust deiners do serve one useful function, theyt ensure that these types of programmes continue to get made to remind us.

On the Germans, remember it was the German political system and the state that enabled these atrocoties and from my history lessons, I remember there was huge opposition to the Nazi party witin the german populace. It's rather like being English and blamed for Thatcher, even if you didn't vote for her.

A powerful state is a dangerous thing and that is why we should remember these lessons from history rather than hating people - a large unchecked state, that silences dissenters and seeks to increase its power and restrict freedom is a dangerous thing and should be resisted at all costs.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Pretty sure I recall in the back of my brain that hitler was born in Vienna and therefore could be classed as an Austrian.....

Like others have said, don't tar everyone with same brush - otherwise we could be classed as being xenophobic like you....

It's a bit daft to call today's germans evil because of what happened 80 odd years ago, a bit like branding all British as evil and greedy because of the days of empire building.

Generalising, again...they aren't ALL 'lovely people'. I've met quite a few in my time; some decent, some not so. As for 'built up a country'....they were bankrupt and destitute; the only way they got to the position they are in now was from help from the allied nations; the great irony being, whilst they prosper/prospered, we were/are still paying off our munitions debts to the Americans for the two World Wars, both started by the Germans! The Americans (corporations), incidentally, were bankrolling the Nazi war effort; all for profit, of course.....Ford and GM were making the armoured and transporter vehicles, whilst Kraft, Woolworth, Coca-Cola, Kodak, Gillette, etc, piled in with financial support. Oh, and, let's no talk about the Nazi ties to one Prescot Bush...he made a fair whack too. I don't really care for either nation, and certainly wouldn't go out of my way to praise the Germans.

You're twisting what I said to prove your point. I never said I had met ALL the population of Germany. Of course there are good and bad in every society. I based what I wrote on personal experience not what I've read in a book or online. So my opinion maybe wrong so what. I can only base it on what I've experienced They did work hard to pull their countr from its knees and they made the most of the help they were given. Nothing wrong with that. In the ten years I spent over there I brought up two kids in a friendly environment who were happy and content. Did I ever meet a bad German in all that time? Of course I did but no more than I see on the streets of the UK.
