In the first we kept knocking long balls toward German who basically did not have a kick against the Walsall no 5 who had him in his pocket
Walsall meanwhile were passing the ball to feet and looking dangerous on several occasions taking a deserved lead just before halftime
Whatever was said at halftime had an effect because we passed the ball out wide straight from the kickoff
and scored with a shot at the near post
After that it was us who were passing the ball around with Walsall posing little threat on our goal
A cracking half volley from outside the box flew into the top corner for the second goal and a penalty for the 3rd after German was taken out by the keeper completed the scoring
It seemed very strange actually seeing the ball in the opposition net after the last few home 1st team matches
Good summary of the game. You are correct to say they were long balls "toward" German - as in "the general direction " because nothing was to him and he was virtually on his own against the Walsall defenders. The tactics were horrible and nobody could see anything but a dominant Walsall winning comfortably. The half time change to a passing game turned the match on its head - Joe Rowley ran the midfield as opposed to watching hopeless 40 yard punts sail past him. One to watch out for if he manages to progress.
