the old a game of two halves was tonight against Walsall

In the first we kept knocking long balls toward German who basically did not have a kick against the Walsall no 5 who had him in his pocket

Walsall meanwhile were passing the ball to feet and looking dangerous on several occasions taking a deserved lead just before halftime

Whatever was said at halftime had an effect because we passed the ball out wide straight from the kickoff
and scored with a shot at the near post

After that it was us who were passing the ball around with Walsall posing little threat on our goal

A cracking half volley from outside the box flew into the top corner for the second goal and a penalty for the 3rd after German was taken out by the keeper completed the scoring

It seemed very strange actually seeing the ball in the opposition net after the last few home 1st team matches :windup

Good summary of the game. You are correct to say they were long balls "toward" German - as in "the general direction " because nothing was to him and he was virtually on his own against the Walsall defenders. The tactics were horrible and nobody could see anything but a dominant Walsall winning comfortably. The half time change to a passing game turned the match on its head - Joe Rowley ran the midfield as opposed to watching hopeless 40 yard punts sail past him. One to watch out for if he manages to progress.

Drawn against Carlisle at home for next round. Due to be played by 19th November

Confirmed as Tuesday 15th 7pm kick off, £3 entry.

If you're attending the Junior Blues league meeting on the same night in the lounge, you might get to watch the game for free ;)

Be a busy day then as the reserves are due (according to the fixture list) to play Mansfield in the afternoon

Poor finishing cost us tonight, German had a nightmare. Well done Carlisle beating us in et with sloppy defending again. There doesn't seem to be any good news or luck going for CFC it's awful.

German's finishing was poor but he did create many of his own chances and posed a threat all night.

The sub Aaron Sennett-Neilson (14) was the star of the night for me

German was lazy and greedy. Needs to knuckle down and realise that just because he has featured for the first team he hasn't made it just yet! Their number nine never stopped running, was comfortable on the ball and brought team mates into play.

Question marks over German's attitude after tonight's lacklustre display.

Or maybe indicative of the current mood of the first team squad following the last few days both on and off the field?

Rubbish on 'lazy' and some truth on 'greedy'.
Chances were wasted with a mixture of poor finishing and a failure to player a team mate in. He's a brute with tremendous power and acceleration, still got to improve on his left side though.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on
