I know it's off topic. I've said my bit about a winger crisis. Now, it's great to see action on the Canal Basin. Lots of holes and diggers etc..

1) Apparently ,archaeologists are on site form time to time because of an old brewery on the Trebor site. I think the only thing they are finding at the moment or ancient packets of Extra Strong.

2)The town's population and that of the surrounding areas is rising steadily('m sure DA will be happier) but will this be another nail in the coffin for the town centre, given the Northern Gateway amounts to a re-tarmac carpark and a business startup centre instead of shops etc.... Cautiously optimistic.MMM...

How would this solve a winger crisis?

It wouldn't - it's somewhere to drown your sorrows.

The Waterside development on and around the old Trebor site was always planned to have a large housing development, alongside shops, restaurants, bars and offices.

Wonder if all the urgency is a possible triggering of Brexit and the possible loss of any Euro funding. Happening all over the country.

Think its our money, which they give us back. Funding streams should not change unless the powers that be in westminster decide otherwise.

I think this development + plus the Whitt Moor Dave Allen / Casa/ Tescos is excellent regeneration. But. It makes me cringe when we have 5 or 6 roundabouts in town which are beautifully manicured and the messy grass round the side roads in these areas and the bypass etc.... It has to be a complete package for me or it doesn't add up.

Please don't pursue the grass cutting on the bypass it will result in a 6 months cone fest

IMO the whole area gives a bad impression to people using, driving past it especially with it being a major road, route through the town.

That new path at the side of the A61 to the ground is a mess, what with he various vegetation growing up, over and through it, overhanging trees near from Hazelhurst lane through to Casa, at least 2 large damaged section of the fence, smashed glass, bricks and stones strewn along it.
No wonder hardly any cyclist use it.
It poorly lit as well.
I wouldn't want to be walking down there over the next few months.

IMO its so untidy it leaves a bad impression of Chesterfield.

For what it cost, you'd have thought those at the relevant council would maintain the area, a bit similar to the Proact in a way.
The pride of Derbyshire

Something that bugs me about town is when you sit in the Bridge Inn beer garden you look towards the Spire and see that concrete wall forming the bypass and then you consider all the arrivees coming by train see the same thing. What an open canvas that could be for some up and coming artist to showcase his/her skills by producing a mural depicting places of interest around the area

Irony is that it takes private initiative - and funding of course to do this. The little things add up. I suspect there's politics. Aren't Derbyshire County Council and Chesterfield borough involved somewhere with different bits. Also the road along Whitt Moor. I wonder what away fans must think!

Not a lot of people know..but Chesterfield was due £100m from the EU & was going to be one of the biggest facelifts of a town within Europe....that was pre brexit
