Massive differences between how the two were organised werent there? The Elton gig was of little risk to the club as we got a fee for renting the ground plus sales from hospitality\refreshments. The second attempt we tried to do it and sales werent great so it hit us harder. No reason we couldnt look to do how we did it the first time renting the ground out to someone putting the gig on. The act needs to be right though and not sure where they go with that.

Even the Tom Jones concert although not full turned a profit, it was the fiasco the next day that wiped it out. If he had someone competent promoting, it could've been a different story..

I get the feeling the dream was over for DA and it was retrenchment from that day forth as far as he was concerned

If I understood it right the concerts could have been staged by an agency without risking a loss - but for a much smaller profit. DA wanted a bigger share and the gamble failed. But maybe that was just one of the concerts.

Should have been happy with the guaranteed smaller profit, rather than messing it up by being greedy and wanting the whole pot.

Any lessons learned there again I wonder.

Get the right acts in and run em like the Elton John gig was, then there's surely a profit in it for the club, no matter how big especially in the summer months when the cash flow is tight.

Allow time for the pitch to be sorted correctly though!

We must have made some impression on Sir Elton, in his iPlayer interview with Gary Linker he talks about momentum and Leicester winning the Prem, and then he talks about Ipswich this season. He then talks about us, how last seasons play off final was one of the best matches ever and how we’ve carried that momentum in to this season.
