Viljoen will have to have given up the chance to play for Sth Africa internationally to sign as a Kolpak player so cant be called up. We've only signed Tahir for a chunk of a season havent we so i assume thats the chunk that doesnt coincide with the Sth Africa team being here.

England v SA, 4 tests in July and August

Don't tell me that Tahir is no longer 1st choice. He'll be over here bowling and if injuries/form dictate he could be called up

You were expecting something to go wrong, you could start here.

The season will probably have gone wrong by then anyway and we'll be selecting squads with next season in mind, just like we have been doing for the last 2 years, so it might no matter

He's not due to start with Derbyshire after the Champions Trophy which is in June. Tahir didnt tour Australia in their last test series where they picked some other guy plus used Duminy and Elgar to bowl spin.

That is my point.

He most likely will be playing for SA against England in the 50 over, T20 and Champions Trophy over here in the proceeding 2 months, so will be the obvious person to call up if required.

Lets hope this other guy remains on form and remains fit.

New Zealand have done us a favour there picking Broom. Get a Saffa in who can score some runs now on his money.

Broom seems to score runs for fun back in NZ so not really a surprise he's been called up for a series where they'll probably rest a few. It suggests there is a player in there but it certainly didnt show last season.

He got into the 30s for Derbyshire on quite a few occasions last season and just as it looked as
though he would make a big score would end up back in the pavilion after playing a bad shot
