Given the current respective fortunes of our teams and league position for the last 20 years I would suggest the pain is all yours.....scab!

I cant believe you put your hand up.

Yes, we all share our home games with a fair amount of 'scabs' don't we?

I'd like to think the true meaning of 'scab' is lost or becoming lost. It's a long time for anyone who still feels aggrieved to be carrying it around.

The local rivalry is healthy for both of us, lets keep it football.

I think you're assuming the term only refers to people who broke the miners strike, truth is strikes still go on today, people still break them, and they are and always will be scabs.
And I would never underestimate the strength of feeling generated by such a long running and life changing event, I get why strike breakers from those days are still scabs.
If you do what you always do, you'll get what you always get.

It's far deeper than that isn't it. Not only breaking a strike, but forming a scab union - which had it's headquarters in Mansfield. Scab union for a scab workforce based in a scab town.
A new hope.

I'm not assuming anything. You chant 'scab' at us because of what happened during the miner's strike and for no other reason.

I too would never underestimate the strength of feeling...like i said...it's just a long time to carry it around.

If it is any comfort to you I agree.

The average fan isn't old enough to have witnessed the scenes of the miners strike and I don't think my grandson should suffer the vitriol served up at a local derby because of it - not that I am expecting your lot to be in a high enough position to be playing against us in the near future!!!!!!!!

Perhaps if people are carrying it around for so long it really does show how much it meant. It will never go away. It's part of the history of the area and the industry

I was on strike for the full term. I saw it from the front line. I witnessed the police carry out so many illegal actions and I saw tbe scabs for what they really were/are. They really believed the cow in no10 that their pits were safe. The truth was that they were amongst the first to close. They will always be scabs and in my eyes little better than scum

Strike breaking scab workforce, formed a scab union which had it's head quarters in a scab town.

You say it's a long time to go on about it- not long enough though, your town should bear the tag so everyone will know the stain and stigma your town carries and will carry for decades more
A new hope.

Its probably time to lay the scab chants to rest they are somewhat embarrassing and its not like we weren't on the receiving end of those chants back in the day from Rotherham and hull fans if memory serves me
