Died tonight saw him play a few times in my younger days, ex player of Sheffield United RIP Woody.....

I had the pleasure of watching Woody a few times a great player and a gentleman think he got sent off once and it caused a press meltdown because he was such a mild man on the field
Can't salute yer can't find a flag if that don't suit yer that's a drag

Indeed sad news, only 68. As there was very little football on TV in those days, we used to go to the Lane (if it didn't clash with our match) to get a glimpse of the top league players. And you couldn't help but admire players such as Woodward, Birchenall, Jones, Badger and Salmons.

Woodward wasn't seen to be as skilful as some of the above, but he had a great shot on him, and he did certainly knew how to take a corner. RIP.

my mate at school was a sheff utd fan so i used to go odd tmes with him + his dad remember them beating ipswich 7 0 woodward got 4 the shoreham used to sing alan alan woodward alan woodward on the wing altho im not a sheff utd fan he was a class player him currie salmons made that team tick RIP Alan woodward

Went to the lane to watch Fulham who's side included George Best, Rodney marsh ,and bobby moore. Alan Woodward outshone them all sad news

I was their too and saw besty Oct 76 I think 1.1 draw with over 25000 at and 10k up on their previous gate and Woodward was quality and not very big but could he shoot lethal right foot

That's the one, also saw the game v West Ham where Currie got the Match of the Day goal of the season and Jim Brown spilled a harmless Billy Jennings effort into the net

I remember that too great goal and sheff u was easy to get to on when town played away as I was still at school then
