Looks like Mark Crossley could be coming home.

Gids1980: Hearing #barnsleyfc GK coach Mark Crossley is wanted back at #chesterfieldfc. A deal could see his return sealed in the next few days.

He's also an outfield coach so we could be saving a post I.e. just a no2 to Saunders (Carey) like Tommy Wright was to Sheridan, would be good to have him back, former team mate of Saunders at Forest, Tommy likes him too which is good

I'd check back but I'm sure he burnt some bridges when he left. seem to remember quite a few threads on here about some comments he made on twitter.

I recall a bit of a moan, but a reflection he didn't want to leave, he was back doing after dinner speaking without a problem, although I seem to recall we withdrew his book for sale in the club shop. Giddings is usually bang on the money compared to his peers

I think this thread is a bit unfair, in that Tommy rediscovered his best form during the run in. Neither of the two goalkeeping coaches have cured Tommy's 2 fundamental weaknesses however - positioning for crosses and distribution. This is all relative though. He's still a bluddddy good keeper at mid L1 level.

Of the two I prefer Mark, although judging by results he doesn't appear to have improved the Barnsley goalkeepers very much.

For whats its worth i thought Tommy actually came on a lot dealing with crosses under Crossley.

 You can only work with what you have got.I thought Tommy improved during Norms tenure but he isn't the tallest goalie around and his judgement when coming for crosses will always be in question.

It's difficult to tell exactly how much of Tommy's improvement was down to Crossley but during his time as GK coach, Tommy went from an average League Two keeper (using 'average' in its proper sense)- at one time he lost his place to Crossley, I seem to recall- to being arguably the best keeper in the basement. Pity Tommy was injured for most of the League One campaign when we were relegated.
These go to eleven.
