I couldn't disagree more. He's got 2 years left and he's absolutely integral - I think he's played every match he has been available for. He is a Championship player with Championship skills. There is no way we should sell to a L1 team, and especially to rich smart asses who think they can take advantage, like we did to our neighbours. £1.5m minimum.

If we can't get that for Doyle we might struggle to get it for Sam.... if the Board keeps up its current tactics then he'll be gone when the 2nd bid comes in

It will probably end up being similar to the doyle transfer, an initilal down payment, a second payment at the end of the season, payment on promotion, after X appearances and a % sell on
A new hope.

heyup Dave.
I have to be consistent here. I've always argued that we got good money for Doyle. Clucas is a better player.

It's like the Boxing Day sales, everyone queuing at our doors ready for a bargain

At least it's happening now and not August. How about that for positivity

Will give time for Deano to get all of his old mates back from his Donny days. McCombe, Paynter etc....

The bright side is that we aren't losing him to Pompey! (yet)

For me it's his versatility that makes him so valuable to the team.

That said I'd find 750k+ very difficult to not seriously consider, from a business perspective

Hey, if we get circa 750k for all of our assets we'll be virtually debt free, with a L2 standard squad!

Having 2 clubs after him should mean being able to drive the price up. He is an excellent player who can play in a number of positions & he can score his fair share. I agree with dim view. £1.5m or he stays here.

It's up to the club to show that we aren't just a selling club and that will will try to get a good price for our players so they don't all come knocking on our door all the time. Other clubs will try and get our players cheaply to start with as they know there is plenty of time for them to strengthen yet.

The club will have a price for each player, what they think is a decent price to accept.

There's also the case that a good offer accepted will chip away at the debt we have and also give us more money to strengthen the team further, which on last season's latter signings we could do with.

Also, with the vast majority of any signings these days and money received will be in installments, so it's not like we will get all the money for Clucas as soon as he has been sold to allow us to strengthen straight away.

Better check the batteries in your calculator. If we got very good money we might. But first we'd need someone with very good negotiation skills.
We're on our way

I can't believe people are saying they'd happily wave him off. He can play three positions and is improving all the time.

If he is sold it's a(nother) sign we will ship out anyone regardless of the impact it will have on fan's morale or the chance of us making anything above 5th bottom next season.

Well wouldn't that apply to us if god forbid we signed someone for a fee. And if it's just the salary than we know we have those instalments in the bag so that isn't an issue either.

To be honest that the sort of thing Turner would come out with to justify no expenditure on incoming players

Our other assets will start getting restless as well, if they aren't already

Just need Biggs to tweet details of his contract/release clause etc., and how clubs of our size (insignificant) have to expect losing our top players to 'big' clubs.

We could do with forcing Harrison on to them as part of any deal and then making out 90% of the offer was for him and the other 10% Clucas... Kill two birds with one stone I say :D
