Sadly. Apart from protecting a rarely tested back 4, the change didn't seem to have Any effect from an attacking point of view.

As you know we were talking about today's formation, and as gobern played next to morsy in a 4231, then jimmy Ryan was dropped to accommodate gobern.

Thing is, at times we were set up 4-1-1-4 with the 4 attacking players in a straight line. This meant that more often than not our two holding midfielders had no option but to pass side wards or backwards. For me Banks did not play 'in the hole' and the style of play which has got us success was nonexistent. How we could leave Johnson on the bench beggars belief. Pure stubberness by the manager. He lost a bit of my respect today and I'm sure he's not on Ryans' Christmas card list either (presuming he wasn't dropped due to in jury)

What does Gobern bring to the team that is better than Ryan???? Strange signing & still not fit...huffing & puffing just after half time & playing daft passes
