Couldn't you argue that most successful strikers benefit from the forward players supporting them? Using it as a reason to talk down Doyle's contribution seems unfair to me.

not talking Doyle down at all, just pointing out how much he and the team were benefiting from Johnsons attacking play. Its no coincidence that in the last 3 games, with no DJ, Doyle hasn't scored any the team have only scored one.
our lack of success in the last 3 games boils down to terrible decisions by Cook, dropping Johnson being one of those.
We 8 Mansfield oh we 8 Mansfield!!

Agreed; I'm a big supporter of PC, and he would have been slated by some if he hadn't tried to stem the flow of goals against us. However, leaving our most effective and creative attacking player out has, IMO, lost us a minimum of 6 points. I really hope today sees Ryan and Morsy back together, with Johnson, Clucas, and O'Shea backing Doyle up. That line-up would probably give us a badly needed 3 points this afternoon. I know it's an old cliche, but attack really is the best form of defence - while we're attacking the opposition they can't attack us. If we do that, I believe we'll see Doyle back on the scoresheet again, and take the three points.
