I have decided to close the book on applications for the Euros prediction League as with 32 people taking part in makes all the workings out very easy.

Scoring
In stage 1 you will predict the scores from each game, choose two games as your bankers and these will gain you double points. to identify the banker either highlight in bold text or write banker at the side.

As an example for those not involved in previous prediction games I will use the result of our last home game against Bury to guide on point scoring

Chesterfield 3 Bury 0 3 points banker 6 points
Chesterfield 1 Bury 0 1 point banker 2 points
Chesterfield 1 Bury 1 0 points banker 1 point
If you have identified the result/game as a banker then you will get double points

Stage 1
Everyone will take part in predicting 3 rounds of games in a head to head with each person in their group. i will start a thread for each set of games in which will be the head to heads for each group and the games to predict. The top 2 in each group will progress to stage 2. In the event of 2 teams level on the same points for qualification then the table will be decided on the following order
the highest score of predictions
if the same then all banker scores added up
if still the same then the head to head score
if still the same scores on England games
if still the same the toss of a coin(hopefully won't come to this)

Stage 2
There will be a draw and the 16 remaining players will compete in a head to head game based on the round of 16 games with the winners progressing to Stage 3. In the event of a draw I will also be asking people to guess how many goals will be scored by all teams in the round of 16. The closest to this will be the winner. If this does not identify a winner then I will use results from the first game going down the list until a winner is identified e.g. individual scores from each game

Stage 3
The remaining 8 players will go into a mini league of prediction scores only for the remaining games where you will need to predict half time and full time scores

The winner will be the person with the highest score after the final.

everyone will need to monitor the threads carefully as there will be a tight turn round from stage 1 to stage 2.

If you forget to predict scores before games kick off then you can still predict the remaining games as each stage is over a few days.

Good luck everyone and enjoy the highs and lows of a prediction league where results can change dramatically by last minute goals

why would you get a point for making the Bury a banker, if you get the result wrong?

Whitley bay is a ghost town now, bands don't play no more and there's no more fighting on the dance floor.
No, as prediction champion (did I tell you that?) I'm part of the jet set now, only the dizzy heights of Sooth Shields and a curry doon ocean road is good enough for me now.
