Would anyone be surprised to see Mr Fitzgerald filling a position at another of DA's business interests sometime soon?

Well if I was Fitzgerald I would let the truth be known to the press and anyone who would listen.

I expect his payoff will be yet another expense to pop out the woodwork

Football is a business all unto itself, now i don't know the answer to this but what qualifications does CT have exactly? he is currently the CEO of a 3rd tier football club, his CV is goalkeeper for 20 odds years, then managed a couple of teams, then somehow ends up as a CEO, genuinely is he qualified to hold such a position?

I don't think it comes down to qualifications, it comes down to being respected, experienced, competent, in the "field" and ware of what is happening at each department etc.
Like her or loathe her Karen Brady...Dame, had no qualifications and lied on her CV to Saatchi saying she had a degree. At 23 she turned round Birmigham City, especially the off field stuff and positive PR. A good CEO has either got it or not, she had it Turner is struggling.

Ironically his pay off will cost a lot more than sending one of the raffle entrants to Hungary. Unless this comes under 'gross negligence'.

You almost couldn't make it up.

So our CEO knew nothing. If he did he should walk. If he didn't then he isn't doing his job and should walk anyway.
No excuse for incompetence.

 Ignorance is no defence for someone in such a "so called" responsible position.

Well let's thank our lucky stars that this club 'doesn't make mistakes'.

Think what a mess we'd be in if we did.

If he has been dismissed for miss-doings then, as you say, there should be no compensation to be paid.

Depends on his level of culpability and who else knew officuially or otherwise. It might suit all parties

Its all about following correct legal procedures and protocol- not the moral issue.

And the club does seem to have history...

As would I, assuming that he's not been told 'just take the hit, keep your head down for a couple of months and we'll set you up at Owlerton. We'll look out for you, my son. And if you want to move on, there's a glowing reference for you. And here - buy yourself something nice. Wink Wink'.

"spare a thought" for the remaining commercial team, left to pick up the pieces, especially as I believe one prominent member is off for a few weeks for an Op.

Jim Brown (as honest as they come), should be in soul charge of the Commercial team. He's the one man and only man I trust at the Club, and he played a massive part in helping to save our great Club in the DB days.

I don't believe for one minute no one above Fitzgerald was not aware of the decision that was announced. He must have consulted some one like CT prior, I'm sure.

 Neither do I.But the club would try and let us believe a "maverick" was at large and damaged the reputation of the club.
