Poignant and moving tonight. A true working class hero and so sad to see him ravaged by cruel dementia. Not to be forgotten!

An absolutely superb programme, and a guy who never forgot where he came from.

It was a brilliant programme, wasn't it? Jack reminded me very much of my dad, who had dementia for several years before he died, and who used to give a wee smile when he didn't know how to respond to something he couldn't understand.
Well done to writer Gabriel Clark.

It was indeed. McGrath’s story was very touching also. A sad upbringing the memories and trauma of which he tried to erase by self medicating with alcohol. Jack did him proud.
