From what i've seen the EFL have been very vague about when it will happen.

Sky sports still reporting that it would effect this season for example - https://www.skysport...-await-efl-fate

Biggs thinks it will be next season

Wigan’s preferred bidder has withdrawn their offer, so they’re now on to their next preferred bidder!

Next season! -12 this season would have relegated them in last place!

How is that fair when Wigan’s applied this season and relegated them

FL will argue that Wigan's was applied correctly under their administration rules, whereas Wednesday's could only be applied after the enquiry, which happened to conclude after the end of the season, and punishments cannot be applied retrospectively. The potential flaw in that is that Fulham and Brentford would argue that the season isn't over, yet.

Tin hat exercise from EFL as they probably didn’t want another lengthy appeal and court case this season.

That said, I’m sure they’d have applied them this season had it meant Wednesday we’re still safe.

On the wigan front, there is no longer a “preferred bidder” at all, today was the day the admin hoped to announce that a deal had been agreed for a takeover but they seem to have gone backwards.

May the lack of players sales to help bridge the shortfall is putting buyers off?

And cookies “resignation” still rumbles on with the LMA now involved.

Think you are spot on. The Admin rules are clear and have been implemented that way for a good few years and for a good historic reason.

The Wednesday situation is a newish issue and they are still making up the rules, or at least the independent tribunal is.

Last point, the regular season is over and the final league table won’t change no matter who wins the playoff final.

Wigan appeal rejected, League 1 next season (assuming they find a buyer).

Sounds like Norman Smurthwaite is one of the 4 on the shortlist to buy Wigan out of admin.

Some Wigan fans on twitter are worried that he’ll get the nod as administrator Krasnor was also the administrator he bought Vale from.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Smurthwaite purchased Vale from Bob Young. Yes very worrying for Wigan fans if NS is sniffing around.
