Oh, and before there's any snide 'So why don't you pay for them yourself then' kinda stuff, Boris 'Bozo' Johnson's priority today is a handful of statues.
Which by that same line of logic he should stick in his own back yard...

Well we learn this morning Bozo's whipping tory mp's to oppose free school meals. A multi-millionaire actively preventing hungry kids having summat to eat 'cos he's too arrogant to admit being wrong.
Whilst Matt Hancock told footballers to take the pay cut he then refused.
You're right - I'm proud that my son supports Rashers' campaign.
But if he behaved like this government there'd be nowt ont' table for him until he showed some compassion...

Marcus Rashford's a footballer.
He's used his position as a footballer to highlight an issue.
I've simply contrasted his approach with the government's.
A government that itself insisted footballers take a lead in terms of pay cuts. As discussed on this same forum some weeks ago.
I'd argue this has more relevence than the thread on saturday's thuggery which you've not called to be moved. But then I'd also argue both will trend or fade depending on interest...

Government u turn and thousands of kids wont go hungry this summer. Absolutely Brilliant.
What a role model and I hope he gets some form of recognition (non football) for his efforts!
Amazing....

Total tosh.
I'm not a political tub thumper but what he had achieved will be on the front of newspapers tomorrow never mind being in the wrong section of Bob's board....
If that's all you have to worry about then you really need to get a grip on what is important in life!!!

As a side note. He is a Premier League footballer, not Premiership, hasn't been Premiership for years.
Ignore the pedant in me, carry on all.

No problem, pal.
But this issue has seen football and politics inextricably linked and I make no apology for opening it up for discussion.
Perhaps we can extend that discussion, too, towards the way so many pro's are subject to casual stereotyping and even vilification.
'Mercenaries'. 'Greedy'. 'Only interested in money'. 'Sex...fast cars...tattoos...
..a new house for their mum...'.
Simply for getting the best possible deal at work. In the same way any one of us would or does. And why is it okay for a solicitor or accountant or banker or politician to enjoy their rewards but not a footballer?
Don't remember many Town fans calling for, say, Gary Roberts or, perhaps, Jack Lester to take pay cuts, either. Do folk honestly think they were on minimum wage?
Well Marcus Rashford has scored a real winner. Not for Manyoo or England but for hundreds of thousands of underprivileged kids. A quick google shows he's not on his own for remembering where they came from, either.
To use a football term 'The boy done good'. So maybe those making lazy accusations will remember him and the majority of players (though sadly not all) who did the right thing - ie: agreed to furlough - when society needed it the most...

Easy targets will always come in for criticism and envy. You could be critical of most people during this crisis. How many people on here for instance have been off work with nothing to do that could have volunteered to work at the food banks, soup kitchens, food hubs, prescription deliveries etc and haven’t? You can help without being rich.
