I guess the sympathetic (yeah, there're still a few) would say Carson's damned if he does and damned if he dun't.

Criticised for saying nowt, but then criticised for saying summat. Even if he still essentially says nowt.

But maybe we can offer a standard statement that only needs a few names and numbers changing.

'Hi everyone.'

'Wow, is it really time for me to get my name in the press again?'

'Anyway, we're still losing money despite all my attempts to stop it'.

'Dave's still paying all the bills, though'.

'>Insert twee staff reference< are all doing a terrific job.'

'I'm working closely and transparently with the Trust towards a takeover on >insert one of a succession of dates<.'

'They're very grateful for all my help.'

'I'm working hand in hand with the manager to sign players.'

'All us well meaning martyrs running clubs are having a devil of a time trying to decipher the NL's dictats.'

'Don't worry, me and Dave will keep doing our best so there's no likelyhood of admin.'

'We're all looking forward to some exciting football.'

'Stay safe - your mate Ash'.

Cut and paste and re-visit monthly.

Hope you are well, Chris.

Only, I was just thinking that you might not have had a good nights sleep with thinking about that composition and needing to put it into writing before breakfast!!!

What would be interesting is his explanation of why the Trust's offer, which has been delayed on at least 4 occasions by his own admission, warrants a place in his'pending' tray rather than being consigned to the Tyre Kickers Dustbin.

This weekend, we hear not only that many local authorities are on the verge of bankrupcy, but also that the probability that a second virus spike rearing it's head in the autumn is rising, just when some teams who cannot operate without fans are hoping that the new season will start.

Does he really believe the viability of the Trust's bid which consists of a pooling of local authorities' money? Maybe we have been fed misinformation.

Bump
This has been bugging me but here's an expanation for Ashley's optimism so I owe him an apology. He must have known about this.......

Yesterday's Derby Telegraph, reporting primarily about the CBC decision.

'Chesterfield Borough Council’s cabinet took the decision this week, whilst Derbyshire County Council’s cabinet came to an "in principle" decision on the matter back in March.'
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

they are accepting an offer from someone in the hope that they fail in their business plan to show that it wasn’t Ashley or Dave at fault, but the club was simply unsustainable regardless of ownership?
A new hope.

The obvious answer is that it suits Ashley not to label the Trust as tyre kickers and it is good for his reputation (yes, I know) to be seen to be doing all he can to accommodate them. Of course if there was some urgency on their part to get shut, they could have, by now, paid the Trust to take it off their hands. Under normal circumstances, I guess 99% of normal business owners would have either done just that or have given the club away to bring an end to the ongoing cash input that is required to keep the club operational as things stand.

Of course, Mike Goodwin's silence on the subject and a lack of any sort of tangible press release from the outset plays straight into Ashley's hands. The sad thing is, the club is in limbo probably until such a time that Dave Allen shoves off and his son and daughter get involved.

What an ideal time for another Newsletter outlining key milestones still to be completed and a provisional hand over date.

MG says he won't go public until after the ceremony so we are in Ashley's capable hands.

Thanks Moondog
Can't he even give us an insight into his degree of confidence and guesstimate the big date?

I think his and the owners confidence can be judged by the fact that only two or three weeks ago they offered the club to another party for £500k debt free.

Has it been said if he will be lingering around like a bad smell after the takeover?

(On a consultancy basis of how not to run a football club)?

You say that. At one stage, Ashley was certainly volunteering his services as company secretary to remain to assist (if required) or at least during a handover period.

I honestly don't care if I ever hear from Allen or Carson again, I won't believe what either of them say anyway.

I don't even want his apologies, I just want him to slide away, never to be seen again along with all the other board members. None of them should have a future role in the club.

Carson can stick his sycophantic newsletter where the sun don't shine.

Don't worry as soon as the Cashley newsletter his the streets, there will be plenty of people thanking him for some vague reason. (Pass me the sick bucket)

Comical Ali was an influence I understand.

Thinking on about this...

Would I be too upset if Allen started life in the CFC new accounts as a 'long term liability' as he presumambly does or did in Sheffield Wednesday's accounts?

Ie, he agrees to defer payment in full or in part until the CFC balance sheet is much rosier such as after a promotion.

I think I could stomach such a helpful gesture.

I’d imagine so many fans feel exactly this way.
A new hope.
