At 32 a 3yr deal is a very good move for him, understandable deal to take.

Good luck to them next season.

Our ex player in the 1984/85 promotion season Steve Spooner was on the losing side of his first match in joint temporary charge of Birmingham City this afternoon at stoke city

Spoof as was his nickname in the squad looks to be on a hiding to nothing in charge of a Birmingham side that look in freefall

Good luck with that one Steve

Did he manage to stay injury free last season?

Managed about 20 games for Cambridge last season, hard to tell how many were through injury or just not being picked.

If that is correct it looks like Bolton could be starting another boom and bust cycle again lol

Do some clubs ever learn?

Agreed. It baffles me that they'd repeat as if there's no other way to do things.

A pal of mine said "maybe he's the only one going on big money" as if to suggest there's caution elsewhere. But since when did having a "marquee" wage earner ever do any good for squad dynamics and morale? Especially if he hits a barren patch in scoring...

4k a week shouldn't be excessive on the crowds they'll expect under normal circumstances. Equivalent to what, £1500pw here?

I did read an article from Evo saying to agents he has a budget and warning them there's no gravy train at Bolton, so perhaps the Doyle deal was just to make sure he has some goals in the Squad
