I guess that the comment was meant that close season is always hard as no income but still have costs.... But my retort to that is that it isnt a surprise and so should be planned for and just be normal business for a club....

To answer your last question, I doubt they will be shown in the accounts that go to shareholders but the directors should get that level of breakdown and an analysis of what has changed v budget and last year and more importantly, why....

A question I will be asking are the AGM that's for sure!

Don’t you have to be a season ticket holder to attend?

I couldn't agree more, it should be easy enough to run a report off the ticketing system if it's as state of the art as we are told.

I think the failure to investigate indicates the club knows the reason, which now appears as the numbers are very similar, that the no shows are mainly made up from holders of season tickets that weren't actually purchased.

This raises the point that there is little demand for these tickets, so why issue them ?

The answer appears to be to inflate the numbers, but why would we want to do that ?

It's a shame that when clubs have to declare the actual attendees the league (EFL anyway) won't publish or provide them as we could then see what the average is

Bump
Just to (hopefully) put this one to bed then...

Is GB preparing some kind of statement/response/explanation/audit?

CFC:
With the season opener against Dover Athletic just a few days away, we’re delighted to reveal that over 2,700 season tickets have now been sold! We thank all of our fans for their superb support.

I'll be the first to hold my hands up and I say I didn't expect ticket sales to hold up as well as they have.

Even got a little bit of enthusiasm about Saturday as well..

I wonder how many we had sold before the opening day of the 2014/15 season?

With the price rise they might have received more £ than last season. I wonder what has been spent on playing staff compared with Martin Allens budget. Is the difference just the parachute payment or less.

Be nice to get a figure of the freebies given away to all and sundry and see if they’ve reduced the ridiculous figure of 600 from last season.

As we keep finding out the season after, all ST sales figures are to be taken with a huge pinch of salt!

Well it specifically says sold - and I dont think a free gift counts as a sale so I would take that statement as specifically identifying 2700 paying punters. What was last years (allowing for 600 gifts?)

Its a credit to the fans of this club that despite all the crap, on and off the pitch, they still turn out in such numbers. No doubt for DA it wont be enough and we will get the usual whinge next time he is forced to face the cameras...

Let's put this into context - despite all the misery, doom & gloom from people saying we are disaster with poor recruitment & expecting the worst, thats still a pretty decent figure & probably a lot higher than 65% of teams in League 2.

Yes the figures are very good and the club have a duty to recruit properly in return

2700 is very good when balancing it against 4 appalling seasons and I had also expected it to be about another 300 or so less than that.

However it's still over 300 plus down on last year and that will be even more when you add in 80 year olds who now have to pay. So realistically it's more like 400 plus down and unfortunately that has been happening season after season from the heady days of 4500 ST holders and only a vast improvement in performances will improve that....whichever way the club want to spin it!

I've also bought a ticket for Saturday and am hoping for a winning start but it's going to take a good few wins before my optimism returns....

Last year’s total was fiction. No point doing any comparisons.

2019 ST sales = 2700 x 200 = £540,000 (GB’s rule of thumb).
2018 ST sales = X x Y = ?. (Not recorded anywhere).

As GB stated earlier this month
“… the important figure is the ones we’ve actually sold . . “,
so hopefully we may see a precise figure soon from the club of actual ST sales. That should also ensure that in 12 months time we will not have to read of retrospective adjustment of the numbers.

There's no reason why the club shouldn't give more detail about the figures. If 2700 have actually bought STs, how many extra STs have been issued on a complementary or sponsorship basis, or are sponsors tickets considered to be sales?
