That will prove to be a nice safe haven for Chris, once again. Alan Biggs appears to be oblivious to Turner's, shall we call them inadequacies. In fact, given Alan remains so supportive of the three amigos it is a real conundrum as to who he considers responsible for the demise of the club which he claims to support.

Slightly OT but I've always taken Biggs' 'support' of Chesterfield FC to be a thinly veiled attempt at impartiality between the Sheffield clubs.
The greatest miscarriage of justice since my case against the producers of the Never Ending Story

Wonder if he'll be so accommodating if his mate Dave really is hit by a hundred-plus grand liquidators claim...

It's not a ridiculous conclusion to draw.

Mr Turner's new "professional" club launched a share issue a bit back. 20,000 shares at a fiver a pop, with promised dividends of 8% in the first year and 10% in each of the next two. Buy 10% (ie £10,000 worth) and get a free place on the board! That has to be quite a juicy rate of return, compared with putting it in a building society!

https://fcbusiness.c...ership-to-fans/

However, it seems as though the plans to play at Pontefract Colleries FC in the Central Midlands League have been revised downwards to turning out at an athletics track in Cudworth, 10 miles away from Wakey, in the County Senior League. If you like that sort of thing, then they've an interesting-looking pre-season friendly against East Stirlingshire tomorrow. A fiver to get in, but the Wakefield AFC twitter includes an offer of free admission if you can turn up early and help out on the gate. Can't think what might possibly go wrong with that!

How much has Chris put in? Mind you, that is no indicator as to how much their supporters should stick in! What do they say about a fool and their cash?

Do you mean that in Wakefields case a friendly against East Stirling is kind of tasty?

Most of the teams in their league appear to be community-based organisations that run a men's team in addition to multiple junior ones. Almost all describe themselves as amateur, presumably raising funds through subscriptions, programmes and a social club, if they have one. Not all appear to play on a ground where you might easily be able to operate a paying "gate."

Given that the Turner/Sutcliffe model here was (in effect) to charge the players for playing, with the promise of career-enhancing exposure, I'd be amazed if any of the players received a wage. And "structure" suggests a level of planning that appears beyond the participants, on previous form.

I suggest anyone even thinking of handing anything over take a few minutes to read this thread.

It'll be worth their while.

Infact whilst one or two accuse 'BB' of being too critical a reference like this might've prevented at least one 'fool' being parted from his cash...

One jurno telephone call to another should ensure the history of a CT venture being closely monitored.

Goals Soccer Centres plc released the following statement to the City this morning. Highly unfortunate for their former non-executive chairman, Rodney Walker who was involved with the business from 2002 until July 2013. Many of you will remember Walker and his company, FBT.

RNS Number : 6528H
Goals Soccer Centres PLC
02 August 2019

Goals Soccer Centres PLC
("Goals" or the "Company")

Update
The Company regrets to announce that, following ongoing detailed investigatory work into the historic accounting policies and practices used by the Company in the recognition of revenue and the preparation of financial statements, it has become very recently evident that there has been improper behaviour within the Company. This has involved a number of individuals for a period since at least 2010. Due to these initial findings, there is material uncertainty in relation to the historic financial statements published by the Company. Work on the Company's full-year 2018 audit has therefore been suspended until further clarification on the historic financial statements has been obtained.

A key criteria for the resumption of trading in the ordinary shares of the Company is the completion and publication by 30 September 2019 of the full year 2018 audited financial statements. The Directors do not now believe this timeframe for the audit is achievable and, coupled with the findings above, no longer expect the ordinary shares in the Company to resume trading. The listing of the Company's ordinary shares on AIM is therefore expected to cease and cancellation will be effective from 30 September 2019.

The Company confirms that there have been no material developments in the ongoing dialogue with HMRC in establishing a timetable for resolving any misdeclaration of VAT and in establishing a final value of money owed.
Discussions with the debt providers remain positive and they have confirmed to the Company that the existing debt facilities will remain in place post the initial 31 July 2019 review date, albeit that one of its covenant thresholds has been exceeded.
Year-to-date sales across the 45 sites in the UK on a gross like-for-like basis are up +11.5%. The Company's US gross like-for-like sales are up +14.5%.
The Company will make further updates as appropriate and when more information is available.

The information contained within this announcement is deemed to constitute inside information as stipulated under the Market Abuse Regulations (EU) No. 596/2014. Upon the publication of this announcement, this inside information is now considered to be in the public domain.

It would appear that the whole, loss-making FBT Academy has gone south, and Sutcliffe with it. How many loss-making academies is that, now? Rotherham's, ours (that wasn't ours, but you know...) the International Academy and FBT? Although registered to an office of convenience in London the operation seems rooted in West Yorkshire. The website is of course a shocker; not even Bingo's mate at Wolf Enterprises would put his name to that. Bizarrely, bits of it seem to have been copied & pasted from a Californian summer camp for kids. The twitter feed has an impressive 1,040 followers, which I think you can purchase for around a couple of hundred quid.
