Seems to me this is one of the few things that Caldwell has got right, i.e. the need for one.

Hopefully it will not be one of Carson's mate from the Assay Office but someone who knows the lower leagues around Britain (including non leagues) who will arrive with a list of realistic potential targets

Before Turner and Sutcliffe started to tear the youth squads apart a fella I work with ran a junior team and would keep an eye out for talented kids. Apparently one of the kids he discovered was Beesley. As soon as the duo came in he was outed, so he went to Sheffield Utd where he has been helping them out.
Last Week he was headhunted by none other than Man Utd, now gets a part time salary plus expenses travelling round looking at recommendations to see if they're worthy of going a step further. This is the level of scouting that Turner & Sutcliffe didn't think was good enough for them. It's got to be imperitive that all levels of scouting networks are looked at with the upmost urgency. It's not just the first team that needs sorting.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Given the lack of previous selection processes, it'll be someone with a knowledge of Pidgeon's or Greyhounds.

Should fit in very well at 1866.

Exactly and will he be on commission AGAIN. Ashley lets be inovative and just give someone a salary, there are enough people out there in football looking for work.
God I hate this league.

I'm not sure interviews were a result of it being advertised. I know one named scout who didn't know anything about this post....clarification needed please.

Caldwell should know players in LEAGUE 1. When he was asked about plans for next year, he said he didn't have time, got round to that or something to that effect??? What??? I would know exactly what I was going to do next year!!!

Made me laff actually, he said he shoulders the blame as much as the players, then went on to blame the players...

Gary Caldwell has formed an idea of the recruitment department he’d like to see set up at the Proact. The club are currently looking to appoint a chief scout or head of recruitment, to fill the gap left by Paul Mitchell in April 2016. “I need to find someone I can give that responsibility to and that’s his role to set up a department with regional scouts, getting information in, getting a database of players we watch regularly,” said Caldwell. “Then it comes to myself and the first team staff so we can go and watch players – rather than going in blind, just taking a game in – we can pinpoint certain players who have come through a process that has earmarked them as potential signings for this club.” Caldwell was ‘amazed’ the club had nothing in place when he arrived.
